Ryzom was meant to be fun.

It's a success as far as I am concerned.

Well the game hasn't changed, and neither do peoples opinions, so yeah, these threads always read identically.
And well said andar, agreed.

To summarize:
If you don't like it, log a suggestion.
If the suggestion is ignored, propose a compromise.
If it's still ignored, decide whether to live with it or leave.
What Ryzom is meant to be is what the developers make it. They've been pretty open about the fact that the game is going to change and evolve over time. It's one of the few games with a long-term vision and only the devs/authors know if changes to the game will impact that vision.
I've been pissed off about a lot of things that changed in Ryzom and most of my guild left over the original Kitin invasion and PvP. However, once you've voiced your concern, let it go. 99% of the people arguing over these kinds of issues aren't in any sort of position to change them. It's like the ants in your garden arguing about what type of grass you should be planting.
If something really screws up game play, the Devs seem to pretty good at fixing it. If it's an inconvenience to your own personal style....well...suck it up. I don't like getting sniped in the roots or being the main course at a Kitin buffet any more than you do. But, it's a tough planet and we'll either adapt or die. Seems pretty real-world to me. (and isn't that what we signed up for?)
'nuff said.
**Rhaenaan's generic response 1.0 - feel free to crosspost this message to every "they broke the game/I stubbed my toe/the devs all hate me" thread as appropriate.**
[The comments above were posted after an all-nighter with a sick 6-year old and before my first coffee of the day. So if you want to complain that it's a bit harsher than my usual cheery self, feel free to get stu...err....nevermind. Stop typing, Rhae. I mean it. Stop now.

he did? hey grim, i got the game: eve online.

same here
read through the whole thread and there is a lot of misguided beliefs, unbased in facts as well as willful misunderstanding on both sides. (mostly raynes and grimjim, it astonishes me everytime how two people can so utterly and completely talk about different things and yet seem to have a conversation.)
my conclusion: this thread is made of win and lol in small concentrated doses, and a lot of *groan*. kudos though for managing to do it almost without major flaming.

While I always liked Elite the PvP and the sheer monotony of EvE makes it a non-starter for me.

since i'm too lazy to use the search feature, mind quoting the exact comment that tigrus played at?
just want to know wether like/dislike has anything to do with it.

That was a tactful way of saying I disagreed with your assessment of the community.

sorry, i failed mind-reading.
besides that, it seems to me you didn't actually play it. =)
the community there is so similar to this one that it's downright eerie. it feels like playing ryzom for me, only with a different skirt.
to speak in facts though: even though you dismiss it for being a primary pvp game, the community in that game IS top-rate, mainly due to the fact that idiots get weeded out by the gameplay and also due to the fact that without good common sense and without good communication skills you become prey. simple as that.
