There seems to be some confusion over what Ryzom was meant to be...
Re: There seems to be some confusion over what Ryzom was meant to be...
My view on Ryzom is that it is intended to be a sandbox. It has aspects that appeal to both PvP and PvE players. Where I think PvP designs start to go astray is when they make some PvE content only available in PvP zones. I don't know the game very well yet, but from what I read the developers have make this mistake. Certain crafting materials that are useful for PvE can only be obtained from PvP content. If this is correct then I think it is a bad design choice. PvP should be it's own draw, and should not need to entice unwilling participants with unique content.

unless you count bosses in nexus and umbra
supreme materials are available in 3 non PvP prime roots, one being q200 and 2 being q250, wastelands being so large it is essentially 3 areas
hope that helps

You completely ignored my point.rundll32 wrote:You completely ignored the whole point. Pvping in ep2 was in an attempt to stop the enemy faction building their temples first, as it was the diggers supplying the mats for the temples construction, running around nuking kamis pvpers and ignoring the kamis diggers is completely and utterly pointless.
It doesn't harm the PvPers at all to pass up on the peaceful diggers - who aren't the (supposedly desired) challenge anyway.
Any harm being done is completely one sided, only one type of person's play is being disrupted.
Nevrax didn't provide for the non combatative players, their bad, but those are the occasions when a mature community and a more selfless attitude should step in to fill the breach.

Not right now, though it would still have been a nice testament to certain things. However we're talking generalities 'value beyond material worth', not specifics.sprite wrote:But since now you can make your own RP props with R2 I guess you no longer need to use an OP as a prop now right?

As far as episode 2 is concerned, yes it does, mainly because the diggers werent peaceful.grimjim wrote: It doesn't harm the PvPers at all to pass up on the peaceful diggers - who aren't the (supposedly desired) challenge anyway.

Only if you redefine 'peaceful' along specific perameters to suit your argument. Some were happy to be killed/defend themselves or whatever.rundll32 wrote:As far as episode 2 is concerned, yes it does, mainly because the diggers werent peaceful.
Look at it from a meta level rather than specifically within the context of the episode.

As for ep2 yes I agree diggers where and should of been targets what disgusted me more on both sides was the attidues of the melee and ele's. Most want just to nip over for an easy kill of diggers etc on the other side, and no one wanted to guard their own diggers.
Says it all about most of the people who wanted to fight, glory for themselves and damn those who need the help.
As for pvp yes I'd like to see peaceful diggers left alone, most of them are really decent people who help out both sides of the community but as for making it an enforced ingame rule I don't agree with. I'd just rather both sides appreciated the diggers of both sides and didn't leave us to get screwed again despite us putting in a lot of time to dig.
I get problems in nexus with one moron in paticular but I personally just try to avoid them, there's no way I can take an aod in my dig gear lol.

but neutrals are denied PR TP tickets. meaning that to access these areas with any realistic kind of efficiency, you have to sign up with some non-homin organisation, and subject yourself to their version of who is an enemy...dakhound wrote:your totally wrong

Its the people who care most about the lore and the game who stay neutral, taking a faction is the easy option.

In fairness you are splitting hairs... the response was to someone asking about exclusivity to PvP areas and the response was correct.iwojimmy wrote:but neutrals are denied PR TP tickets. meaning that to access these areas with any realistic kind of efficiency, you have to sign up with some non-homin organisation, and subject yourself to their version of who is an enemy...

Faction and PvP are not inclusive unless the player so chooses. That player could choose a faction and never PvP and have access to all the mentioned locations, your twisting the story. "rivoth" never mentioned neutral (many players are neutral and are faction aligned) and without ever being involved in PvP can access all materials/lands mentioned by "dakhound".

I was like doubletap said answering a totally different question, the poster was concerned that the best mats were exclusive to PvP zones, which is of course untrue.iwojimmy wrote:but neutrals are denied PR TP tickets. meaning that to access these areas with any realistic kind of efficiency, you have to sign up with some non-homin organisation, and subject yourself to their version of who is an enemy...

I feel for you guys who dont have any decent TP's, you got shafted in the highest order. In fact I would still be neutral now probably if I had not been a PR digger at the time of the change. The change of tp allowances made me leave The New Empire and join Infinity, there I learn how to be a good kami extremist
