Hero's Journey has seen a few new updates. In fact, the engine the game is using was licensed by Bioware for their new MMO division.
I strongly suggest heading over to
http://www.heroshall.com if you want more info on that.
Oh, and I never stated.....I'm a SWG veteran from Day 1 of release, Chilastra!

*sputters* KOTOR... MMO? Is this just a rumor or founded information?
SWG vet here too
Though not for very long, I came in after the NGE, found Entertainer and to be an awesome vehicle for RP and had a lot of fun with tailoring and city management/development as well. The game play however, was HORRIBLE so I didn't stay long, too bad since I'm a huge SW fan. Sunrunner and Starstrider here

Well, BioWare is working on a MMO, they haven't announced just what yet.

Looked Hero over and I'm not a PvPer so no interest there.
The rumors about Bioware and LucasArts go back to the NGE when we all knew SOE had lost their license agreement or had it extended for another year. Lots of rumors as usual. I;ll sit and wait to see what actually happens when it does happen.
Right now Ryzom is home to my gaming needs.

Amazing! I see a lot of familiar names here. I was Qitu on the Intrepid server. Was the 3rd Mayor of Serenity Valley, Tatooine for a while, if anyone remembers Padre and the Serenity guild...?
I played SWG since beta -- been playing for 3 years -- until I quit about 2 months ago. I've been trying out WoW, but it's just not what I was looking for. This game sounds much more like the old SWG I loved so much ... before the NGE killed it.
My main was always a tailor and merchant. I had 2 accounts and 4 chars there for a while. I had various professions: master entertainer, image designer, pistoleer, teras kasi, mayor, architect and just before I quit, I even tried out Jedi.
It's been a fun bit of nostalgia skimming this thread while waiting for the game to download. I hope to be playing soon.

I just thought I'd add my ha'penny's-worth to this thread.
My first MMORPG was SWG. I saw a friend playing it and thought it looked cool. Then he told me I could be a Droid Engineer. I just *had* to buy it. For a year I just loved SWG. The skill-based system was just great. And believe it or not I actually achieved Master Dancer before Droid Engineer. I used to really enjoy being the pretty-much-only online dancer on Bria. Heck I made my first million buffing without charge. No-one would ever believe me when I told them that being an Ent could make you money!
I took a break for a couple of months after a year of play, only to log in again to find everyone else was beta-testing WoW. Can it be That Good I wondered? Actually, yes.
I've spent the last two years playing WoW, but it reached the point when I started on the beta test for Burning Crusade when I realised that I simply did not care any more.
I'm finding playing Ryzom I'm rediscovering the good bits of SWG -- skill based advancement, player-crafted gear worth buying and (believe it or not!) friendly, helpful players who are not obsessing about the "achievements" of other guilds.
I've only encountered *one* beggar, no leet kiddies and no-one's been telling me that I should spec xyz.
So far I'm enjoying Ryzom!

Welcome O' refugee from the clutchs of SOE!
Hey, after all the BS wiht SWG this is a slice of heaven. Just hope you have as much fun as I am. The crafting system is really intriguing and demands alot. But, it seems the foragers get all the big bucks (LOL)...anyway, enjoy and welcome to Atys!

*looks around and smiles* Who would have thought. Ah, finally a home among friends.
Add me to the list of former SWG old schoolers... okay, very old schoolers.
Have a question for those who would probably know. Back in the early days, I was a Master Ranger (held on to that tag to the bitter end). Exploration, scouting and wilderness survival were my preferences.
As I am just getting started, I know that there is a lot out there that I am not aware of yet. I wanted to know if this environment has unexplored wonders far from civilization where only the daring (and somewhat unstable) would choose to make home. As I use to make my home on uninhabitable worlds in the old game, I wondered if there may still be homes for me in this one. If not, that is fine, but I was just wondering if there are things I have to look forward to along that line.

hi welcome
there are some very interesting things to be found deep in the prime roots, i was about a year into the game when i found the crashed ship (and then about 3 seconds later the horde of kincher found me)
exploring is brilliant so long as you dont do it with high level people who have been everywhere. you can get anywhere, on your own, at level 1 if you are crazy/determined enough. (although about lv50 a much better idea
)
