There seems to be some confusion over what Ryzom was meant to be...

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Such as? Sorry but I really can't see anything beyond Crystals/Mats/PvP in OPs that isn't directly related to the fighting over it (ie politics, alliance forming, etc which imo would be destroyed by 'every' alternative OP system suggestion except one). And sorry, but your excuse of using it as an RP prop went out the window when you sold yours.

So what you're saying about E2 is that the pvpers should have been killing the enemy pvpers, and ignoring the diggers who were crafting the temples.....

That is 100% devaluing the pvpers experience, because theres no damn point in us pvping if you expect us to ignore you because you 'dont like' pvp, but feel it ok to aid our enemy in a pvp area, doesnt take alot of foresight to see the outcome of that. If you dont like it, dont partake in it, or partake in it with the understanding that chances are, youre going to get killed, because thats the whole point of the exercise.

Why would that be? I saw it as a perfect way to use it as an RP prop that way. They gave it up for something more important to them IC (dappers, wealth, richess). Not everyone sees the OP's as merely a 'reward'-churning gamemechanic.

Back in the days when they were developping them and there were still talks of Tribal missions and non-pvp added to pvp content for these Outposts, there was very little talk on Outpost 'rewards' yet most guilds wanted to own one. And I don't believe it was all about getting rewarded, but about accomplishments of a guild, about owning your own little fort as opposed to the static, amply visited drill.

They sounded so promissing back then; where did it go wrong?

As soon as 'he' sold it, it wasn't 'his' anymore, so 'he' couldn't use it as a prop in any way that wouldn't be possible if 'he' didn't participate.

i feel a bizarre grocery orientated version of godwins law being incurred...
*blink*
These analagies are starting to loose me.. its been a long day.
*sigh*

In my oppinion Ryzom has been a sandbox from the start, for the devs as much as the players and as such is constantly evolving...
It was never meant to "be" anything (other than a living world), it was meant to evolve...

Just my 2p in the kitty..

So you're saying that the only way they could have access to the non-pvp parts of Outposts, be it the owning of a guildfort for instance, they'd have to actually partake in pvp?

Bad munkey! Stop confusing me! No bannana!

No, I'm asking jyudas what non-PvP parts of OPs actually exist because I can't think of any valid ones. *waits for his reply*

If you did have to you might get antsy.
Ok, so why is it any different going into parts of the roots??? You do not have to go into the pvp parts of the roots. There are no mats you can get there that you can't get other places.

No, it didn't. Indeed that was using it as an RP prop.
We felt that it wasn't all that it should have been. We wanted to be part of the rebuilding effort of the civilisations. What turned up wasn't much like that. However there are still RP reasons, prestige, meeting places in the wilderness, land ownership and what we wanted it to be about still.

Its not just about the goodies.

I'm told the roots have improved. It used to be there was a vast disparity between the PvP and non PvP areas.
