Actually that website was a website used during the launch process of a company that was decided not to be fully launched in the end at all. Due to alot of things, one of them being lack of time. Both for me and the CEO.
Its also NOT my current work, nor where my experience in business comes from. My main experience comes from an investor point of view, and sales & marketing.
And for that company, I wouldnt have been the CEO either, which should also be on there somewhere.
You dont put alot of money into putting together a better site before a company is decided on launching. If you want to try to persuade me that we should have paid someone to create a real business site, before we were 100% sure that we would launch a company, with a written contract already in the bank, go ahead. I dont throw money away. Thats the first thing i learned in business.
Thats called wasting money. Anything else you want to know?
Another thing is that the numbers I got was from one of the very investors of a different company that you try so desperately to defend here.
Now thats alot more ironic imho.
Its also quite amusing that you are actually spending time and energy arguing that ryzom can NOT be profitable, when I believe that it can be. You should rather spend your time trying to find a way to make it profitable, instead of shouting loudly that it cant be.
Anyways, Im off to italy for a few days for my birthday.

May I point to the fact that the person you guys are trying to burn in flames just gave out a few marketing strategies that have been tried and proved very efficient when it comes to generate interest in a game ? *tosses marshmelloes* I'm not proud of y'all.
You guys are being anything BUT helpful when it comes to show what a great community we are and what a great game we have... makes us look like a bunch of hypocritical arrogants. We should be making people want to subscribe, not necessarly a lifetime sub, but at least a monthly or quarterly sub to support the game, whatever people can afford. But instead, I hear our favourite doomsayers affirm that the game cannot possibly survive and throwing numbers and negativity around just to confuse and scare some more people away.
If you really want the game to die, keep walking that path, you're killing it more efficiently that the owners themselves ! WAKE UP, ALREADY ! We've lost enough people without driving more potential players away. I do think it is possible to be dissatisfied without being outright harmful to the future of the game.
People being so negative that they'd shoot down one of the very few bringers of hope that appears to know what the heck they're talking about... SHAME !
Close this thread before I really start disliking people...

this post is about whether or not you would be interested in a lifetime subscription...not about who you know or what strategies the current owners should (not) employ.
if vodka was water
and i was a duck
i'd swim to the bottom
and never come up
but vodka's not water
and i'm not a duck
so slide me a bottle

Hey, I can post and vote! Finally!
Personally, I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, so I chose the 'don't want to exceed the normal fee' option.
I do want to help Ryzom however, but in the long run I think that a normal subscription does that job better.
However, if my financial situation improves and you can prove that you got what it takes to keep Ryzom alive and expand its content, I wouldn't mind switching to the lifetime subscription once my normal one expires (if it works that way).
