Over 13,000 votes, and placing a close second.. pretty good avdertising (that was free)... Maybe this is something that should be used by us and the dev team to help promote the game?

Honestly, hand on heart, I do not believe this kind of poll, on that kind of website, is providing any marketing value to Ryzom. Sure, it's free, and why not? It's worth taking everything available I guess. But I don't think there is that much value in it personally, and being at the top of a poll that allows repeated daily voting really makes no sense at all
Who in their right mind is going to say "oh these votes were probably the same 400 people visiting each day and voting... but Ryzom is top so I'll play it!"
Will they make valuable additions to the community? I really don't think so.
Since it IS free and easy to achieve, there's no real reason to avoid it. But you need to be realistic about the exposure - most of the people viewing thes poll results will be the very people voting in the poll - 400 Ryzom players and 500 Ragnarok players
I think the mmorpg.com polls and tables are probably more relevant, due to the increased exposure. The site appears to be much higher quality than mmosite.com, and will therefore (probably) have more visitors and potential new Ryzom players. Attempting to get mmorpg.com exposure is a long-standing activity for the Ryzom community, and that's probably where most of the value lies. Smaller sites are worth targeting with minimal effort, but will always bring questionable results.

This is more a cheap viral marketing campaign for MMOsite, than free advertisement for the games. This award isn't even clearly mentioned anywhere on MMOsite, other than a small square banner inbetween twenty other contest banners on some obscure contest page.
