Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Hopefully, it can attract even more, so as to be a major success. To achieve this, the current direction of the game development is to include both PvP and non-PvP play styles.
I disagree. They don't have the oomph to take on the big boys, so the market is to serve a niche, and serve it very well and to innovate. While R2 and the general background of the world are innovations I feel that the PvP implentation and some other parts are trying to play the same game as everyone else. That might help in the short term, but not in the long I don't think.

My question is; How important is it for PvP to have harvesters to attack? (and possibly Trekers too) Is this a major factor, or only a minor diversion? Can PvP stand on its own without attacking harvesters?
This only really becomes important when one wants to say, disrupt one's enemy's supply lines and such.. Don't know how important such actions are here.
For harvesters, getting attacked is a major concern in these zones. To be able to harvest these zones would be a major plus to game content.

So OK, they know the risk, etc. But if there were a way for harvesters to work these zones without PvP attacks, would this adversely effect PvP in a major way?

Suppose for a moment that there were 2 instances of Umbra and 2 instances of Nexus, one of each for PvP and an other of each for non-PvP.

Well if you are doing that, why have the harvestables in the GvG areas at all? I will go on a limb and assume Ryzom put them there because they are supposed to be contested hard to get materials.. but if you don't want them to be a danger pvp-wise, then put them in a Kitin lair or some such heh.. same concept, but can't blame the pvp-ers for getting killed while trying to get the stuff heh...

I have found the answer to the endless debate about PvP. I found a new game. A game where pvp fits. Where you only pvp when you wish to. After almost 2 years of playing Ryzom i have made a conclusion. A 12 year old acting like a 12 year old is better than a 40 year old acting like a 12 year old.
To me that is what Ryzom has become..alot of 40 year olds acting like 12 year olds under the guise of a mature player base.
