See, this is why I should leave serious conversations to people for whom it isn't 2am... you can make points so much better than melexi44 wrote:I can't honestly answer your question, [snip] I meant no offense to anyone, and I certainly hope none was taken.
The funny part about all of that is that Sinera was approached by several guilds and turned them all down before meeting an OV that spoke about the game, about the lore, and just wanted to chat and have fun together.akm72 wrote:There are two issues with this.
One is that it is actually not good gamemanship to pressgang new refugees into a guild before they have found their feet in the new lands. Providing assistance to newbies is one thing, but joining a guild is a big decision and new arrivals should be given the time to meet multiple guild before they are asked to join one.
The second is that this is an obvious example of the Matis/Kara guilds making a serious effort to recruit the Tryker refugees before they have a chance to meet the Tryker guilds. This is hardly the behaviour I'd expect between supposed allies.

Are you level 250 forum spammer yet so you can stop?
Since you did not have the full "story" of how I became a part of OV, I can see how you might have jumped to conclusions in an effort to prove your point. However, you are misunderstanding the events as they unfolded. I was approached by approximately 7 guilds (remember, my memory can be a bit off now and then, lol). I never flat-out turned down any guilds - but I did tell them all that I wanted to get my feet a bit more firmly in the sand before I made that very important decision; on this point we completely agree with each other. Choosing the right guild for not only a person's individual game-style, but also the "kind" of people they want to spend their virtual lives with is extremely important, and I encourage new players to not just jump into the first guild that asks.akm72 wrote:There are two issues with this.

Beautifully said, Sinera. I'd ask if the pushier recruiters were Kami or Kara aligned guilds, but better to let everyone's assumptions go wild. Much more drama that way. Speaking of that...lexi44 wrote:You may not understand this, but I actually joined OV because I did not feel *pressured* into doing so (as a few of the other guild recruiters had tried to do by telling me I'd never survive alone, I'd never be able to level, I'd "regret" not being a part of *their* guild, and so on).

Whether they were Kami, Karavan or Neutral is not the point I was making. I have no desire to feed the fire of diversity between "us", nor to start petty arguements just for the sake of fighting. The point was, that "pushy" or not (your term, not mine *smile*), at least I was approached in Fairhaven by several players who had their guild's interests at-heart (I make no judgements nor assumptions of what those interests may be *giggles*). My Fyros character was approached by no one, mostly ignored, and pretty much left to fend for herself. This *could* be just *one* reason why there are more Karavan than Kami (among other reasons, certainly). This point went hand-in-hand with my other point that Kami might consider more actively recruiting new players, rather than simply "whine" about how out-numbered they are. Kami have just as much chance at recruiting a new player as Karavan do - it's all in how you present yourselves....or whether you "present" yourselves at all.oldmess wrote:Beautifully said, Sinera. @Mioette - you seemed to have allowed your anti-Matis (and anti-OV) prejudices to blind you into making false accusations. I'd suggest an apology is in order, but you'll probably quote some obscure bit or lore or previous posting of mine that proves you were right to be so wrong.![]()
