you can add me to the list.
It isnt an Australian holiday, it has no relevance to Australian culture, and yet the shops and TV channels ram it down our throats and brainwash our children with it.
I have no objection to YOU observing it, in whatever manner you see fit, but 'cultural imperialism' doesnt make any more friends than the military variety.

sorry about the tone of the post, but Im feeling bitter about things at present.

Heh. Doesn't bother me in any personal way. And I can certainly understand annoyance at holiday commericialism. Just never heard folks complain about Halloween until now (I live sheltered USA life I guess, where we just ***** about how Christmas seems to arrive earlier every year).

Halloween, shmalloween. Another of those holidays corrupted by Christianity, like Christmas (Winter solstice), St.John's Day (Summer solstice) or Easter (First fullmoon of Spring).

That day's true name is Samhain, when the spitits of the dead and those of the yet to be born walk the earth with the living.

if you want to make that comparison: i can switch the tv off, that's no prob, considering i don't even watch tv nowadays. what irks me is that these kiddies, prompted by their retarded parents, walk to my house, ring the bell and then mess it up upon me failing to react on it, which results in me having to clean it. the rzm equivalent would be people getting in my apartment and looting it empty or something.
