I hate roleplay due to long posts on the forums telling me the correct way to roleplay and how my style of roleplay isnt the accepted definition of roleplay.

Although I guess those that do would point out that they are showing their support for that person, not trying to "be" them, and therefore the 2 things are completely different and incomparable.
The leisure industry spends BILLIONS of dollars bringing the alternative realities to us.... DISNEYLAND anyone ???qatzer wrote: I think trying to imply someone else has a certain grasp (or lack) of fantasy and reality is unwise, none of us know what's going on inside anyone elses head, and not one of us can say any particular stance is "normal".
Best left well alone, it's miles off the OP's initial question anyway. I believe the topic was "why do some people hate RP"![]()
ah so thats what that guy was doing the other night when he was stamping on my head.......roleplying rooney.mugendo wrote:The boy who runs across the park in his football shirt shouting...ROONEY TACKLES..ROONEY SHOOTS....ROONEY SCORES!!!!!...is playing his fantasy of being a famous footballer.
Yep, fair enough, in my haste I repsonded to an inaccurate generalisation with an inaccurate generalisation lol.katriell wrote:I disagree.
You can never apply a "behaviour ruleset" to a group of people, especially if they're a group of people with Asperger's or other forms of autism.
Is an innaccurate generalisation. It may apply to the vast percentage of the population, but not "all".mugendo wrote: We all participate in roleplay/fantasy/accepting what is not true at some points in our lives....
Arrr, maybe it IS 'ery rele'ant.mugendo wrote:What I really dislike are the people/groups who impose their own 'imaginary' rules over the normal game mechanics to allow 'pure' roleplay...but that is another point not relevant here![]()

Roleplayin' need t' be consensual, I can nae pretend ha'in' a plague and spread it t' other people without their appro'al. Ya can jest decide no' t' play along, simple as thae. In smaller groups o' likeminded players you can enforce thin's. Tharfore, me belie'e you can make up rules t' play out a scenario not supported by game mechanics if ye wanna. Chances be that it collides with the grand story a' some point, like mayhaps the e'ent with E'olution's nuclear crystals might do, but ye can always say nae if it feels too wrrrong. A pence for an old man o'de sea?
I played my character in an online RP game for several years, of course over time groups took control of NPC locations and based their roleplay there..and used the rest of the game environment for 'grinding'....(OOC PLAY).cloudy97 wrote:Arrr, maybe it IS 'ery rele'ant.
