Agreed; open PvP? heck no... the style they have now is pretty much the best type I can think of - it's all consentual and has an actual point to it.

First off, I never claimed to speak for the community, second off, I guarantee I am not the only person who enjoyd the open PvP days of UO, so please don't YOU speak for the entire community when you say NO one would enjoy it. I am truely sick of cocky self centered people, responding in schmarmy anti-social ways....
Do I ever expect this game to go towards open PvP, of course not. Did I have a right to state my opinion that it was fun, and that I "ventured" (in other words guessed) that SOME others might feel the same as me? Of course I had the right, so please, keep your cocky hand off the keyboard next time.....
EDIT: And to Sxarlet the way you spoke to me, you basicly said that my opinion is not valid nor welcomed here, YOU have no place to say that, please refer to my second paragraph above....
EDIT: Sorry one more thing, I just realized that each person told me I was basicly Sadly mis-informed, I am sorry, but my statement was FAR more valid than yours, I said that I ventured that more than just I (meaning possibly only 1 other person or more) enjoyd the open pvp of the UO days, if you think you can speak for EVERYONE that plays this game, and can tell me that not ONE SINGlE player likes to game like me, well then you are one of the most naive and closed minded people I have ever met....I may not speak for the majority, but do not dare tell me I am completely alone, because that only proves my previous theory...

Then you're the epitomy of what many are and have been trying to avoid and prevent, tooth and nail, here.

look, im really new in this game and maybe i dont get the basics, but in a game where u have 2 sides fighting eachother im really suprised there is no open pvp.... this game would be great for something like that ... look at the landscape, the tactics that can come from it etc etc, but no we got 2 factions who are in war and within those factions people are acting like there is no war between Kami or Karavan....... this game is advertised as an world split up between a war of Kami and Karavan, only till now i didnt notice much of this 'war' since it seems to me everyone wants to be everyones friend..... no offence to no1, but it seems pve took the overhand in this game.

No ones going to allow looting. Too many people cry if actions have real consequences.
Also, such games require extremely complex flagging systems.
I doubt any serious MMO will go back to the days before trammel, except on maybe special servers they set aside for hard mode.

Well, what happened is that it started out with the aspiration to be a PvP game, but Neverax took so long to implement it, that most people made friends with the opposing factions.
With regard to open PvP, yes its weird, but i would like to venture an opinion having open PvP'd and played Ryzom for quite awhile.
Theres a particular type of cretin (This is not directed to anyone in this thread btw) attracted to open PvP games and I would hate to see them come to Atys. You all know the type of ganker/wanker I mean. Trash talking on forum and region chat, attacking new players and afk'rs etc.
Personally, I think Ryzom has formed a world that is just too special, to be contaminated with that sort of crap, as much as I like PvP, I would hate to see it here in an Open PvP style.
I didn't even take part in the Jackoba/LT gigs because of the posts here, until recently, but when I saw it was conducted in such a mature and fun way, that was NOT AT ALL representative in the posts here, it was very enjoyable.
I even quit a guild last night on Cho, when it resorted to aggro dragging, spawn camping and ganking, which frankly disgusted, me as it was fighting without honour IMO (and props to EoA for taking it in such good humour, but never resorting to those tactics in return), which are things that would become prevelant here if open PvP was introduced.

There isn't a war, not an open one. There have been skirmishes.
In spite of fiddling about with the lore the conflict, even so far as it is presented, still makes no sense in the context of the world as provided and the situation described, nor does it make sense given the background of the remaining original leaders.
Some players desire to fight each other, fine, you've got a tag for that, you're open' then, but it's pretty misrepresentative to pretend that Atys is a 'world at war'.
