I read mmorpg.com regularly to look at new games in development. Ryzom was clearly trying to break the mold so I got involved in beta and have played ever since. Unfortunately the innovative features they advertised (guild missions and encyclopedia) are still not implemented which is why I dont recommend the game to people who ask me about it.

A friend posted the link in an everquest forum during early open beta, and I thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd seen, so I tried it... :P That led to me ditching everquest.

I saw advertisements and read articles in magazines and that put the game on my radar while it was in development. I managed to get into beta. What drew me into the game was much of the inovation they were trying to push. Since launch, they have been partially successful in meeting some of those goals. There is more grind to the game, more like the first generation games, than I would like, but I am hoping they can move the game in a better direction soon.

When URU Live was canceled, we were all looking for somewhere to go. Many of us URUites came here. I started in Feb of last year, at first thought oh no not for me, I can't kill, and besides all I did was die. about 3 weeks later Yoram convinced me to try again. We were already trying to organize a guild and all. The birth of Out of Cavern was formed.

Finally I got hooked. and even tho still involved with the Guild of Greeters in UU. Ryzom has me.

It has not disappointed me at all. All the games have problems and this is nothing.

I will be here to the end, and I would still tell people to try it and judge for them selves.

I tend to beta test, to see what is out there, and to help the everquest competition as much as possible. Having played EQ for six years, and having gotten TIRED of being sony/verants whipping toy, I left EQ for Horizons. Having grown tired of a smaller version of the Same ole game different name, I moved on from beta to beta, until I found Ryzom on MMORPG's beta games list.

It was significantly different from everything else in more ways than I can begin to list. It stood out from game after game that I betaed (more than six less than 12, some of American origin, some from other nations. After Horizons, they all kinda blurred into One LONG beta test, same mobs, same characters, same skill sets, different name.)
