In general I find the game has improved a lot since patch 1 and I do not come across may bugs that spoil the game play. There are 2 bugs that I do find annoying 1) I crash to windows when trying to visit trainers in FH (this is a bug) 2) The 0 sources in Nexus which, you can dig and get no mats (which is not surprising, but is surprising you can dig them) and if you do happen to dig one you do not get the focus used in extraction back like you would normally.
I only harvest to craft so I can understand the harvesters who are fed up with the sources being zero and not returning.
I used to find the game a real pain with lag and crashes but since I upgraded the memory in my pc to 1 Gb I have not got any lag except when the server is playing up and occassionally a very slight bit of lag in FH. Also I have not crashed except at a know bug site.
As for getting rid of bugs before software is released, I cannot think of any piece of software that I have bought (and I have bought at lot) that did not either need a patch or an upgrade of some kind. So as a paying customer I do not mind if they have to do patches or upgrades as long as the game is improving.

In retrospect, once it was toned down a little, patch one was great for the game. Imo, of course it was way too easy before.

I agree with this I was getting tired of harvesters complaing they couldnt get there Uber mats from PR like they use to and everyone had the best gear.I like a challenge and I have had no hard time addapting to the changes in the game. PR harvesting seems to b a big issue now and I can understand some of the frustration there but there are other places to harvest outside the PR.

personally i think, the roots thing is not completely a bug, even tho it is easily perceived as such. i'll try to lay out my train of thought:
goal:
prime root materials have to be made special, everone and his little dog was running around in black/white armor
how to achieve:
limit grand total number of materials that can be gained from root sources
facts:
sources have two ways to prevent players from harvesting them
1. it can be exhausted, this does not mean there are no more materials there, it simply means you cannot harvest from it, it's an ON/OFF-switch, triggered by using up the life of the source. no source pops up
2. the number of materials in it can run out, this number get's generated randomly on each prospecting action. if it runs out the source is still alive but is simply empty.
changes done:
the number of materials in a source was limited and fixed for certain regions. every harvesting action in the roots in that region reduces it now. when it reaches zero it stays there for an indeterminate amount of time or server reboot. that means sources can still be popped but have no content.
why this is perceived as a bug:
players associate exhausted with empty and expect an empty region to come up with that message
something that seems to really be bugged in this matter:
the refill of the sources, apparently the content does not regenerate at all, except for server reboots.
another perception error:
"leveling is impossible now." this is wrong, there is plenty of mission materials you can level on quite easily.

I don't harvest just to level and mission mats are of no use to me. The only reason I harvest is to improve my crafting and if I could not obtain the mats needed for crafting then there would be no point harvesting.

If you are only in it for the crafting, then go kill mobs and craft with those mats. Or buy npc mats.

like i said, the goal was to make root materials unique, rare, not the stuff you craft from day in, day out
if you really are only crafting to improve your harvest, you have 4 continents which have more than enough mats, why not harvest there if you only need training mats?

Ok, I harvest for crafting but my aim is to make all the gear I use myself, I already do this with armour. So I'm not interested in buying NPC crap mats at over inflatted prices and mob mats by themselves are not good enough. If I'm going to harvest then I want a reason for doing it and crafting my own gear gives me that reason.

Hemm i'm a lil noob crafter but i came to a lil conclusion:
In order to be a good crafter you have to be a bether forager.
Exampel:
you have armor craft7 (q70 armor)
Well you nead to be abel to forage at least q80 mats or else you will never have 1 dapper in yor pocket. So my lil noobish advice to a starting crafter is: Harvest yor mats never buy them. Harvesting is the one thing in game that dont cost you more then 1 pick every 3-4 days. Quartering will use up yor armor and will cost you more time/monny then foraging.
If you dont like foraging i sure hope you finde somboddy who is willing to give you mats cos it will be darn hard to level...

It is logical that he who crafts will want good mats to craft with if he wants to craft decent items.
Finding decent items is hard as most of the people who harvest I am sure will craft themselves. So being a crafter without being also a harvester is only really going to work inside a guild as far as I can see. Perhaps where the guild has dedicated roles for people.
However, I am also sure thay all players dont want to keep doing the same thinig over and over for al eternity. Some high level crafters these days feel pinned into their roles.
It doesnt hurt to try new things. To play SoR you already have to be a repetitive key pressing maniac - so whats the difference if the sequence of key presses produces mats and armour or dead animals and mats? At 3am in the morning its all the same to me - the only thing I can see at that time is the shortcut keys on the keyboard and a faint blur on the screen that says I got some XP !
