Thank you all for the answers, it seems it is true about ATI and its drivers, they do need a little more love..but the last patch made client a bit choppy for most peoples cards it happened I run across and asked about it. I am awaiting a fix on that and by no means they should leave it like that, chopy gameplay should not be a "feature" for this game, since a majority of users with low end systems are eager to play too, the idea about game developers aproaching card manufacturers is not completely right, its the other way around for most of times, card manufacturers aproach game developers, especially when its about a large gaming project, yes, they all do this, they all try to sell cards claiming that their own runs this game better, what I am worried about is that not enough testing with ATI is done as is probably being done with Nvidia cards, what we want in this game is more people, they really should look at both cards the same way, I know games out there that run perfect with either companies products, its not about spy bots and crapy performance, what do spy bots have to do with framerates and client failed to render items right? Btw I use manual rulesets in my firewals there is no way something gets in without me letting it be there.
Asked other ATI users around and they more or less have similar problems.
I suggest the following for ATI users having problems, for some problems to be fixed from the users end untill they look on to it with more care:
-Locate yout Ryzom folder in your Hard Drive
-Open the main folder which contains Ryzom.exe and find the
client.cfg configuration file, you open it with Notepad -and make sure you dont have Notepad open by default such files (I dont know I always do this as a precaution)- then you should edit the following lines accordingly:
Cloud = 0;
CloudQuality = 0.0000000000;
CloudUpdate = 0;
Turned all to 0 it gives more framerate boost and reduces some of the chopiness. You wont miss a thing, cloud clutters are being displayed wrongly for ATI (at least from my end) but you should be now able to watch the beautifull night sky
Set Direct3D for your Ryzom client, after you locate the ryzom_configuration_rd.exe file that does so. It is under the link "Display". Click the Direct3D radio button and press apply.
Turn all Vertex Shadering effects off from the ryzom_configuration_rd.exe client, it doesnt matter what you did with an external tweaking application for your ATI, Ryzom forces its own.
There you go, enjoy!
(worked for me)
As long for the suggestion to ask a dev, I did ask for a gasmeplay issue before two days and i received the answer "I really dont know" Nice eh? It was a simple question about a skill being a general category skill (like the ones you dont get from trainers but they appear as a "header" to describe a specific skill subcategory) after you get a specific skill with the apropriate skill credits from trainers.
and have a Merry Christmas!!
