Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I agree with all of you. Especially Fuzz. And my mother.

Open the box cover that you purchased the game in, specifically cites PvP ;)

And it's NOT going to be like the rest ( actually many DON'T offer PvP at all ! ), since they're going to allow guildes to essentially shape the state of the region through control of outposts etc...

For the BACK history a player only has to read the offical website, they DO have ALL the past BEFORE beta, before release, AKA the stuff our grandparents did, and their grandparents did.

There are entire stories of it...OUT of game. Go check for yourself.

The trouble is that MANY gamers want it in books IN GAME, or in quests...IN game, or told by heralds....IN GAME. I have found that MANY players will even join a guild and NEVER go to the forums, or even come here. They want it ALL IN GAME.

Which I THINK the devs are working on.

and as the French would say Viola:
http://www.ryzom.com/?page=story
Check the frames on the side and click on the story, read, click story on the frame again to get the stories list, click next story and VIOLA...all the history even I could want.

And as long as they ALLOW an OPT OUT button...I am all for PVP...for those that CHOOSE to do it.

i heard someone came out with Ryzom novel... anyone know anything about it?
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

I rather they delay the patches then get out patches that introduce so many bugs that I feel like smashing my monitor

i dont want to see too much content right away. you have to think about how much work it takes to come up with content versus how quickly people suck up content. pace yourself. explore, hunt, craft, roleplay with people, whatever. we are not here to compete against each other. we here to enjoy the ride. enjoy whatever experience and story ryzom has to offer.

This, as I said, is only a few paragraphs’ worth. It’s like reading the back of a book. Most RPGs I’ve seen have MUCH longer and in-depth stories than that – how can you get a feel for anything from what little they do say on the web site? Sure, not everybody cares for anything more than a summary, but I have a hard time becoming a part of a world which can be summarized in a few pages of history.

Unless I’m missing someplace that has more?
