That is hilarious... please feel free to show me something that came out salmon colored using red and orange mats. Gralen explained it as it works, majority color determines item color.

Depending on the armor type, yes. The "High Quality" armors have a lot of embellishments regardless of the base color, but the "Low Quality" will tend to be much more drab, and inherit the base color more.

My black heavy armor in my sig from FBT is medium Q, I also had a set of black medium Q light armor as well.

Looks cool, doesn't it?
Even though the combination would look better on a matisian armor, I think, it's still too cool. Yup, can't beat the red/black combo, just can't.

Well that would explain the LOVELY bluish green top I made in Beta from mostly green and blue mats. And the almost Magenta skirt I made that was CLEARLY not red OR purple, which was the mats I used, with a few blue thrown in.
To me this is great news, even FURTHER customizations of my look, I will NEVER BE A CLONE AGAIN...Oh sorry caps, but I hated being Female Wood elf druid with the pouty lips number 487, without names...you just couldn't tell people apart!

Look at the armor I am currently wearing in my avatar (and in game)... that is most likely the color you are referring to. A lovely bluish green, it's called turqouise and can be made with the proper mats, not by mixing colors.

lol ... are you losing your patience?
I have to agree with him. All experience in the game so far dictates that you are being quite liberal with your combinations. Although Tap is wrong on one point. Turquoise is actually a mix of purple and orange.

Speaking of it, in the Fyros refugee isle there are only mats for the colors beige, red, purple and green.
Does every race has only certain colors in their home habitat (at least in the refugee isles)?
