The quest for knowledge is the entire cube thing.
These cubes obtainable from a ton of npc's, are not yet implamented (rather the npc's are around but they don't physically give the quests in game)

I have visited every single one of them in Yrkanis on the live server, and it does seem to be a promising venture once they fix them and get them to work.

They know there broke, and will have them working at some point I imagine, but I don't think currently its a priority based on the amount of time there working on the other unmentionable item that if said might get this thread merged

There similar to EQ's chain quests, you do one thing, go talk to someone, they have you do something, so on, so forth, remember Luclin and the addition of the Shar Vahl, then your LONG quest that you could get from like level 1 and work on it forever.
