When a blue dot appears, stop poking thr ground and gear up. 250 m is plenty of time. Dont attack first, just make it clear that you are not a pushover fight.

And if you cannot defend yourself a bit, you have no business in the PR, not anymore anyway.
lol if you cannot defend yourself in pr you shouldnt be there? people from lvl 50-250 have to go there to get pr foraging skill wether they can defend thereselves or not, if they want to lvl the skill, not all harvesters are fighters and wont want the place to be a pvp area.

so many more big changes due to come soon and so many players leaving alrdy. im gonna keep my eye out for a ryzom replacement i think as this is getting a joke every 5 mins were getting 2 hour waste of time patches and 50+ brown noses defending the devs decisions even tho deep down there getting bored thereselves

I did say "anymore". Well i guess harvesters will have to work a little harder for the pr mats that can be used by any race crafter, have amazing stats, etc..
Dont get me wrong, the PR is dangerous as it is, the kitin patrols are very *wince* keensighted.

Non fighter Harvesters have the option of staying out of the PR, and in the jungle/lake/desert/forest, where they will be perfectly safe from the evil PKers. Fighter/harvesters get to harvest in the PR. Its that simple. Think of the ability to harvest in the PR as a perk that comes with the ability to not trip over your own pike.

Its basically a case of Greater Risk = Greater reward. They will just increase the risk, to match the reward, which is PR mats .

PS: Chili cheese fries = ambrosia

I know lots of people who will quit when this is implemented too sadly.

I think it is not intended that someone killed in the PR by another player should get dp or be lootable. There will probably be some kind of PvP points such as realm points in DaoC. But even in DaoC if you kill someone much lower than you are... you get no points.

But... in Ryzom you have no idea of the relative level of another character I think... right?

And we all know there are still some people who will either role play (legitimate I think) someone defending their territory. And perhaps some others who just enjoy sending you back to your spawn point.

But aye.. the vision of the game is turning into something I hardly recognize any more.

I long for more role play though. Hard to say which side I come down on here. As a rabbit type of person (one who when faced with danger runs away) I have been feeling pretty lost in Atys for some time now.

the mats arent getting higher than supreme which you can alrdy get in pr so where is the increase in the mats stats with the increase in the risk?

saying that only fighter harvesters should be able to harvest in pr is silly, since not everyone wants to be a melee char, just because they want to dig up rescources that will make them more income as a harvester. you cant expect them to go and forage in other areas just because they dont want to fight. the pvp in this game is way too unbalanced to even think of forced pk areas anyway, the devs must be shortsighted if they cannot see that, first to fear in a duel wins so itll just be the same in pr youll have lvl 50 mages running round pking high lvls with low lvl fear and a low lvl cold/acid spell and then i shall come to the forums and say "i told ya so :P "

it alrdy got changed so that people can only get mats to there skill lvl which made pr skill alot slower to lvl (not saying this shouldnt have happend tho) then they made the patrols agro you from about 200m (well stalk you) then they start to add new spawns of agro in safe routes and these arent just migrating mobs either they are spawns placed because we are using these routes to travel around. 3 weeks and not a kincher in this one spot i go to then as im wandering through one day i get whacked by one and i find out its now a permenant spawn.. coincidence? of course not :)

Well ok, when it's implemented this might prove a problem for a while. But alliances are starting to be drawn up and sacrifices are going to have to be made. So you can't wander into the PR and stand 26 metres away from a 25 metre (stupid) aggro monster. The opponents you are up against are going to be intelligent and ruthless unless they are on your side. Well, they might still be intelligent but maybe not so ruthless. To you. Or not. You get the picture anyway. The PR is always meant to have been the most dangerous place on Atys. Now it's not just going to be recommended to take some friends (or at least let them know you're going; revenge is sweet.) it's going to be essential for all but the hardiest of warriors or most cunning harvesters. I'm looking forward to it and I'm not even a fan of PVP.

Tell that to the Tryker, for whom harvesting in the PR for q110+ mats is easier than harvesting in their own lands. And even q60-100 mats requires navigating mobs harder than those found in Windy Gates.

I so not like the idea of PR becoming a PvP arena

Maybe I'm repeating what others have already said. But isn't the PR the worst place to make PvP given that the PR is one of the most dangerous places in the game already? Are they going to power down the PR if they make it PvP? How would people who want to PvP be able to do so if they've got to worry about the Kincher patrol taking them out?

I don't like PvP. I hated the huge PvP zones in AO. Died too many times when I wasn't interested in PvP.

Arenas in each capital town seems like a much better idea to me.

I think the big problem here is that a great many people feel that PvP should be optional in these types of games (including me).

Various reasons for that, from my own perspective I feel that PvP in level based games tends to be ruled by combat templates and is a natural magnet for the less savoury elements of the gaming community ("I pwnd j00!").

I'm not against optional PvP for various roleplaying purposes (heck - I'm the Matis middleweight nekkid boxing champion :) ) - but, effectively forcing people to contend with combat gods, gankers and l337's by making major routes/zones/game features PvP only is definitely a bad thing.

I've quit more than one MMO "RPG" (note quotes - at least one game turned into all all-out quake-fest) where the game designers foisted this on the players.

Hope they rethink this one....................

Well i guess harvesters will just have to learn to sneak past new intelligent mobs with an aggro range of up to 250 M and varying levels of intelligence :)
