Not sure, I'm a Nvidia fan all the way.

Then I adjusted my speakers and found out why. I have a sound card capible of surround sound, I also have the speakers. Well sure enough the game actually does an incredible job of putting the sounds in their correct places. When other players were to the right of me and in back, they were heard softer and behind me. When they are in front of me, they could be heard from the front. I started to notice that when animals footsteps would come from a distance and walk by, so would the sound. I was amazed. Of course that's not all that amazed me.
I have a pair of 3D LCD glasses that I have used for gaming in the past. The last game I tried them with was City of Heroes. I found out very quickly that the menus didn't work well. Some of the buildings and people were actually 2d objects. It was a hugs disappointment. So tonight I decided to get them out and try them with Ryzom. I was beyond amazed. Everything translates beautifully with them. Menus seem to float in in front and on top of thing. Players and NPCS all move incredibly well. The way the game does distance with a foggin effect... well in 2d it can look kind of fake. With the 3d glassed it does an flawless job.
All I can say is if you want to experience Ryzom as if it were real get surround sound and pick up a pair of 3d lcd glasses. There really is nothing I can say to do it justice.

My sound is turned off to help with lag issues. I would love to hear the game but I CTD too many times.gddss wrote:I keep mine on, too, the surround sound is wonderful. So as not to presume, why is yours running without sound? An error?

I dunno, I've got a good ATI card but i lag whenever i run past Kipees in yrk...the roaring sound seems to cause it. I usually play without sound whenever possible also.sathla wrote:Lag issues from sound can be from enabling EAX, selecting more sound channels, higher sound quality, ect. From past experiences it's been the more sound channels that causes lag.
Otherwise I have winamp on and the game music off, I like the game music but it gets repetetive after awhile.
