I don't like the idea of RP'ing in regional-type chat channels. It doesn't make any sense to me, unless there is some kind of in-character mass communication network set up, like, say CB's in real life--then, I could see doing it.
The only time I roleplay is in around. Everything else is OOC. It just seems silly to me to try to RP in region, guild, team, or in tells.

Many RP'ers do it this way so you are not alone. But I don't like to pretend that long-distance communication isn't happening. We use it so much. To me it's easier to suppose that our characters have the ability, either through technology or telepathy. Then I don't have to pretend surprise when I bump into my buddy at the stables "Well, fancy meeting you here!" after we just agreed to meet there in /tell. Another reason I like long-distance RP is that I don't often have a lot of RP'ers within earshot. With an RP chat channel I can RP a lot more often. Finally, using IC communications in /guild and /tell helps me with the immersion I'm after. I just can't enjoy RP as much if I'm having an IC chat in /around while simultaneously talking OOC in another channel.
But there is no "right" way to RP so we needn't agree. If Nevrax does make an RP channel anyone who doesn't wish to use it can ignore it.
