the Waverton Brawlers of tryker also participated in the attempt to reclaim Bounty Beaches. unfortunatly quite a few of our stronger players were offline at the time.

personally i have no strong allegiance to either the kami or the karavan but i will protect my homeland and come to the aid of those who are in need.

i thank all those who participated in the Bounty Beaches raid. it was a valliant effort.

On out of character comment here, but chosing sides in the raid is indeed *chosing* sides in the kami vs karavan. The final enemies of Antikamis garnered roughly +1/-1 kami/karavan fame *each* kill. I and many others who completed the event are in the red -100 fame with Karavan, and lost fame with a bunch of tribes (and have the corresponding gains on the Kami side). My Fyros fame went through the roof, as did Zorai. I don't know if this translates to kill on sight status with those tribes, but the line in the sand has been drawn for many. There was discussion that if the raid had continued past the kami ending, would we go help the Tryker. I regret that I would have said no, because of the final fame portion.

That being said, the initial waves of corrupted creatures did not affect fame (I think) but any in depth involvement in the raid would. I was not on the Tryker side, and can't make any further comment, but the impact of this raid goes beyond the events of the battle; it appears to set the stage for the storyline.

Tin.

also i'm guessing you've heard the phrase the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
As to the controvesy over the actions of Light of Trykoth or those Trykers who came to the aid of the Kami or even those homins who did nothing to assist either side preferring to remain neutral: all Homins who were present to hear the calls to arms had to make a choice and each Homin will have to deal with the repercussions of the choice made.

The decision to fight was not even a clear cut one: For some it was a matter of defense of their homelands, for others it was a matter of Kami or Karavan loyalty, it may have been a combination of both and yet others may simply have been swept up in the heat of the moment. Regardless, the decision was the one that best served the needs of the fighters at that time.

The decision to not fight also is not a simple one. Some feel that taking sides is beneath them, some were faint of heart and dared not support one faction over the other, others believe that strict neutrality is the best course and yet others simply were unable, for whatever reason, to help. Again, the decision was the one that best served the needs of those homins at the time.

The full impact of any decision made can not be known until long after the decision was made, if ever. I fought for the Kami to show my loyalty and I fought for the defense of my homeland to preserve my homeland. Can these not also be said to be selfish decisions because my decision served my own interests just as those who chose to not fight served their own interests?

yes and no they are selfish reasons. i for one was glad to help the karavan and the tryker.

the thing is if you were stranded in tryker or matis would you help out the karavan knowing full well the same enemy is attacking your land?

if some tryker wanted to go help the kami that's fine but they better remember that a large group of MATIS saved their land with not even asking for anything in return except for the heck of it. i have no quams with the ones that helped the kami.

as for me personally if i was in zora i would have helped the kami, although we are a karavan aligned guild. it is simply because the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

war is not clear cut but there are things you must forgoe.

i've heard tale of a far off world where there was a civil war in a country called chin however when a country called nippon invaded them BOTH sides stopped their war and joined forces against the nippon invaders. if enemies like that can forgoe their differences to fight a common enemy why can't we?

(ooc that is true during ww2 mao tse-tung and the chinese red army were revolting, when the japanese invaded the joined with the gov forces to fight the japanese)

Interesting as in this case the Karavan and their allies (Antikami and Black Circle tribes) were the enemies of the Zoraï and Fyros. So in helping the Kami forces you would have become the enemy of your friends. I am now sporting a -100 global Karavan fame due to my desire to support the Kami; which, while that is fine for a Kami loyal Zoraï, may have some very undesirable consequences for a Karavan loyal Homin.

As you say, war is not clear cut.
