My card has a hard time with Direct 3D, always had this issue through, well everything. Turning the AA down to 2x seemed to fix this. Also turning off the VPU recover in system settings.
I run Ryzom on low scenery settings and in Open GL and it seems to run really smooth with no crashes at all in Tryker.
I tried OpenGL, and while it ran fine, and actually looked a bit better, it unfortunately likes a better refresh (70 mhz) than my LCD monitor's 60 mhz rate on the digital cable. Also OpenGL still appears to be unable to run full screen at 1280 x 1024, so it ends up in windows mode. unless Hedon operates in a resolution range supported by OpenGL it may not be an optimal answer, though apparently a playable one.

Everytime I visit Tryker, unless I crank my video settings way down I run the risk of constantly crashing. Even with the settings turned down I crashed 5 times in on hour yesterday. All of these crashes were caused when I was turned very quickly (i.e., targetting a member for healing that happened to be behind me). Why is it that Tryker treats me so totally different than any other lands? Is it all the water? All the reflections I my system must keep track of? More than likely I know it is ATI that is probably the culprit due to the fact that this game is optimized for nVidia, but if there is something else I can try please let me know.
Have you tried running the game in either D3D or OpenGL instead of auto? Just in case if you don't know hot to set these, hit start, all programs, ryzom, config ryzom. Then find where it says D3D, OpenGL, auto and choose which one you want to run in and then hit apply button at the bottom of the box then close and start the game (If you choose OpenGL when you start the game it will ask you if you want to switch, choose no). I don't know what they have done for the ATI cards since the game was released because I can now run the game in D3D, but before when I first got the game I could only run in OpenGL or I would crash within seconds of getting into the game. It also seems D3D or OpenGL work better or worse depending on the model of ATI card though I am not sure which works with which card best, so try both and see if either helps.
