... afaik you have never had to pay to beta test this game, and you definately don't now because *its in retail* hence no beta testing 
If you are referring to the $1/1/£1 test charge, it gets refunded almost immediately so in effect you're not actually paying... It is a free trial; how many times does this have to be said?
