Example: Matis thinks that Fyros armor is to die for and learns Fyros crafting. Said Matis now fears that the growing Kami-Karavan split will prevent him from learning more Fyros armor crafting skills and would instead like to unlearn that skill so as to have more points for his Matis crafting.
If you know a Fryos skill, that will never prevent you from learning other races skills. It's your fame level that matters.

The crafting tree's are also RACE specific.

Meaning there are a total of 4 seperate crafting trees, one for each race.

And it costs 50 points to train base armor crafting in each seperate tree.
25 points per level on each tree for each subskill
30 points on each sub skill's patterns

Understand?
I understand. What I am saying is that you could be an expert in Matis armor crafting, loved by the Kami, and hated by the Karavan. The skills you have learned have none, nor will ever have an effect on your ability to choose a side. This is because within a race there are groups that are dedicated to both the Kami and the Karavan.

Besides isn't it possible for one to be an expert at crafting an enemies goods for the sake of using it against them?

Your not seeing the bigger picture.

Kami VS Karavan (notice the VS part)

As a cross crafter, I have skills in 3 races currently, Tryker, Matis and Fyros.

FACTION will hurt where I can and can't train.

These new Kami and Karavan things there putting in place, can and probably will destroy my Fyros and Zorat faction so I cant' enter the cities.

This will most definately remove my ability to increase my skills in said race (Fyros in this case)

After lengthy discussion about this matter, the story is unfolding to bring it in line with the fact that the Karavan are banned from Kami cities (not players, NPC's)

Now, next step for the storyline to unfold into, the Karavan are planning 'mean events' against the Kami, and vice versa.

As players we are to react to these events in game, and protect Karavan from Kami and Kami from Karavan.

During said events, your faction will most likely be obliterated.

You will have totally earned those 2 new titles.

Kami Ally
Karavan Ally

BUT you can't be both, like tag football, you can't be on the red team and help the green team.

This was not taken into consideration by the players who can travel to all 4 cities and who have cross trained.

We didn't fully understand the roll of the races as the storyline is progressing.

I was working on being a jack of all trades, master of none.

(eventually 100q in all 4 crafting trees, but no 250q in any)

Initially my thought and take on the storyline was that now that the wars between the karavan and kami were over, both factions would work as a team against the growing kitin threat.

Apparently the Kami and Karavan can not set asside there differences, thus they are rebuilding there war against each other.

We are pawns in this game of chess, and its the NPC's move.

I am seeing the bigger picture and I know what is going on.

You can remain neutral. Just don't do any tasks that awards Kami or Karavan fame. Not all tasks do. I know for a fact there are many Zorai tasks that just award Zorai fame.

What does racial armor crafting have to do with kami vs karavan fame? Regardless of my kami / karavan fame levels, I'll be crafting Tryker, Zorai, Matis, and Fyros gear until the end.

AFAIR, bad fame with a civ. will prevent you from getting upgrades (e.g. fyros armor crafting 16) since the trainers may refuse to train you. I'd said it's rather civ fame than kami/karavan. It is possible to have -80 kami and positive fyros

As raynes stated, there are members of all the races with factions in the opposing 'camp'. Some of the smaller tribes even have the trainers that you can talk to and get training from.

I have learned not to really bother with debating with Raynes sinces its fruitless.

The bottom line is read the up and coming chapter 2 storyline, were talking about events not missions.

And I am 'currently' under the 'impression' that doing these 'events' will dictate factions.

Bottom line, I like doing events, and knowing this, I have to choose to either participate in doing events that can hurt my ability to enter both Fyros and Zoria cities or not participate and just be a humble neutral do nothing kind of guy.

I won't coment on the fruitless remark...

I do think you are wrong that the events will dictate what fame levels you have. I think that the fame levels you have will play a large part in how you are viewed at the events, but I can't see the events changing fame levels and significant way. The reason? There is no way the devs are going to give people a ton of Kami faction for one or a few events while there have been people working on it for weeks.

The fact is, crafting for Fyros if you are a Tryker will not hurt you in the least. It will take a LONG time for your faction to get that screwed up that you can't walk around the Kami cities as a pro-Karavan player.

And who is to say it ever will happen? :P
