since the chapter 1 fixes have gone into place, people have simmered down

and the devs seem to be focusing on hidden content that we need to discover, along with blatently obvious content which is the invasions

its slowing growing now, it had a hickup, ok so it choked, but they gave it the heimlich and we move on

And I think there's also a difference in opinion and attitude between those who have had their patch 1 created problems addressed - harvesters, for one, after the shriekfest they raised - and those who haven't and don't really see any hope that Nevvie even cares, like soloers and crafters.

In fairness, a lot of people aren't in the latter categories and that may be a good deal of the problem. I remember responding to someone who had told people to stop whining NOW with a detailed list of crafting nerfs and their response was actually very thoughtful - they hadn't realized how badly other players got hurt.

Incidentally, there's a huge difference between someone who really likes the game and someone who tries to cheer so loudly so they shut other people up. That would be my definition of a fanboi, not much different than the perpetual whiner who rather than constructively pointing out issues that need to be addressed just moans about how they hate the game. There was a nice GM warning to a whiner type about being constructive; maybe they could start giving similar warnings to fanboi posts.

There are a lot of really good points.

Most of the dedicated harvesters I knew (those which didn't harvest to craft, but for the sheer fun of it) are now gone. Foraging is doing much better to supply crafters though.

Most of our testers and people who really cared about the process of testing and improvement are gone now from what I"ve noticed or else being very silent. Just as well, anything about how the game can be improved seems to get attacked by people trying to "raise morale" and defend how great the game is. The responses we used to get directly from Nevrax are gone now as well.

Moderators seem to have mostly given up and in the post patch 1 forum environment who can blame them? The attitude on the forums probably first and foremost lies in Nevrax's hands as to what they'd like to cultivate. I for one most strongly miss the old community we used to have.
