Even if this number is off by half, it is far below the what is needed to make this game financially viable.
I don't know the cap the servers are built to handle, but I would imagine it's about 2000. I doubt the projections in the business model were based on 200/400 subscribers. More customers would be needed to make this a workable, long term project.
Unless Nevrax finds some way to counter the bad impression the game has projected in the last month, there won't be an 8 year story arc.
I've cancelled but I thought I'd check in to see if any positive changes had been made, but I don't see much evidence that things have gotten better. In fact the mass exodus seems to have made things worse. I'll keep monitoring the situation to see if Neverax comes up with a solution, because I did enjoy my time in Ryzom... for a while.

By all means zzeii, be positive. Feel free to put a positive spin on those numbers. Sadly, I'm not up to the task.
But keep smiling.

It should be noted that the prime-time online population of an MMORPG is a very small percentage of subscribed (paying) customers.

It
should be noted that censuses like these are completely useless.

I like the way the people on this forum behave for the most part. It doesn't make alot of sence to constantly belittle, and complain all the time just because you don't like the way the the game is going. It's so much better to state your issue and then explain how you would like it fixed.
Honestly, how would you like to be a WoW DEV. Having to read what a lousey job your doing day after day and then trying to guess what to change that would make people stop complaining. What a crappy job that must be. It would be enough to make you take revenge on your players when you reach your breaking point.
I hope this makes sence to everyone its why I seam so pro Nevrex all the time. Im realy just trying to be fair to people that are just trying to do there job as best they can. They are not some big faceless corp. They are just people like you and me.
Yes, and I for one am hoping it stays that way. if this game gets swallowed up by one of the giants, especially if it's EA, I'll be gone the same day I read about that.

They're good for morale, to make up for suppositions taking only certain groups of players into account, etc. Other than that I agree :P

Wasn't directed towards you sir/ma'am, just a post towards a number in the forums in general, and a sarcastic post at that. And like the person said, this was just in newblands/capital regions...Ya know, the lvl 1-50 places. I'd hope this long after release, there'd be a number of people higher than those levels. So there were 201 low level people logged into the game, hrmm...
Not bad...
This is like doing a census in EQ, but only checking the starting cities. Not very accurate. Not to mention, doing it on a weekday. Nor counting people at dinner/doing homework/working late/late shift/sick/etc/etc.

I agree, they seem to actually deliver results. Ill admit there were some elements missing that i thought would be included in the start of the game, but i believe in time Nevrax will actually deliver. If it wasnt for the service and timely updates, i would have had the doubts that others seem to have.

Okay, here's some positive news - graphs showing MMORPG subscriptions. It shows that even games with fewer players can survive:

So there ya go.
