If the server has problems with the load of people atm that would be a VERY bad sign, because there are hardly any. In my understanding the servers should be able to handle many times more then there are playing now.

The Problems are not related to Server population or trial players.

I don't have any details, but I was told by the development team that the issue has been located and fixed.

The server hardware hasn't been changed (not been degraded, could have been improved dough) since last open beta. I think there were many more players online during that period. A server crash due to high load doesn't seem logical to me.

I remember a dev or a gm stating the servers are capable to handle 12500 players. Don't ask me who said it or when, its a while ago
