One vital piece of information that you have not given us is your system specs. Without those we are shooting blindly.
Most important of all is what video card do you have?
Here is what has always worked for me (if your system is capable of playing Ryzom):
- upgrade to DX9.0c
- reboot
- remove current video drivers after making sure you have the latest installer for your video card
- reboot
- run video card driver installer
- reboot
- set your desktop settings making sure you have 32 bit depth and at least 1024x768 resolution
- run 'Configure Ryzom' and see that it has detected things properly, set refresh rate to something that you know the system can handle
You will never go wrong if you follow the above sequence

Unregistered wrote:no sorry, the problem is with your video card, doesnt matter if its "top of the range"
theres nothing anyone can do
your not even clear at what kind of graphics card you have either
um how does it say please select 16/32mb of AGP memory, that makes no sense at all
what OS are you using. if its windows xp you shouldnt have this at all
your best off asking at
http://www.guru3d.com in the video card area, explaining that your having a problem with your video card, and see what people suggest
i have a feeling your card may be faulty, or be an onboard graphics, some motherboards carry graphics cards as standard (32mb) these genually arent very good
also
you may want to check to see if you have the AGP driver for your motherboard, some boards require that you install software before using your card
for example an ASUS board would require an AGP SIS driver otherwise your card will go into PCI mode and would run slow as hell...
sorry i cant help..
Ok this is the full description of what happens when i try to run ryzom on my new pc After the initial mini ryzom logo i receive
"The driver has failed to allocate AGP memory. This may result in performance and display issues. Do you want to know more?
Yes No"
i click yes then i receive the following messege
"Ryzom Client Troubles
The client failed to allocates AGP memory
The Ryzom client can't allocate AGP memory. Check in your BIOS that AGP has been reserved. If not reserve between 16 and 32 Mo of AGP memory. If it is allready done, try to update your chipset drivers."
I have run BIOS and set it to AGP from PCI and set what that thing told me to do nothing i have also updated my chipset to no avail.
However if i click No i can Patch Ryzom and when it relaunches i get this message
"Can not create window (1024x728 32bit)"
my card does support that and i always run my pc in that mode.
this new pc specs are as follows 2.66 processor 256 mb ram with SiS Real 256E Graphics(upto 64mb Shared video memory). but in BIOS i can set shared mb to 128mb???? Am i configuring my pc wrong or should i install my old graphics card which is geforce 4 128mb. but when i try that my screen wont turn on it remains blank or turns off am i installing that wrong aswell i also have 512mb ram i tried to upgrade this new pc with from my old 1.1gh proc pc but they wont fit properly into the slots which are the same as old pc .
i mean i have and old hp pavilion 4 years old and i bought the next upgrade hp pavilion
sorry if that seems all jarbled...

For me, simply ditching Directx (9.0c) and choosing OpenGL in Ryzom configuration did the trick (bypasses "Can't open window 1024 x 768 32bits" error). At least Ryzom launches and runs.
I still have a few cool psychedllic effects like white armor on the Welcomers and some changing textures, but it is definitely playable and I'm doing so.
