I will definitely give this a shot, but doesnt this seem backwards?

The reason I continually pull Q100 even though I am capable of pulling Q120 is that I am pulling for craft mats, and I only need Q80 or maybe Q90. I would like to think that I would be able to gather MORE lower quality mats as my level increases. The biggest hurdle to jumping up to Q110 or Q120 mats is that I would have to use the next Extraction Counterpart, and at lvl 115 I dont have the focus for full pulls using that (even with +630 focus from armor/jewlery). I REALLY wish we had a TON more Extraction Stanzas. The huge jumps make no sense to me.

This just seems very weird to me.

Findings:

At Forage 115 pulling:

Q100 mats yields 8.3 mats per node
Q90 mats yields 7.7 mats per node
Q80 mats yields 7.1 mats per node

Conclusion: The farther away from your "Skill" quality, the less you can harvest per node.

Now, who thinks this is a bug? Its certainly counter intuitive, but I can see it being "as designed" in an attempt to make folks "move on" and make room for new harvesters and crafters. After all, imagine if you could do pulls of 30x50. You could CRUSH the Q20 - Q50 markets for whatever you shose to make.

I've noticed the same thing. In fact, the way you describe it is exactly the same as my experience with this.

I'll be hitting a q200 field today so I'll try pulling mats at my level (120 forest) and see what happens.

they diminished the source time in the stanzas to find sources. I did notice that.the 'time 35 seconds' did become +7.5 seconds more of time instead.

no they didn't, they made the base extraction time relate to your skill level and changed the time stanzas to giving you a bonus on your base time instead of setting the full time

Focus in guys.

I am not talking about the changes to the stanzas. I am talking about the "feature" that as you increase in level, you are able to pull less and less mats of a given Quality, once your level exceeds that quality. My numbers:

At Forage 100 I coulld pull 10x100
At Forage 105 I could only get 9.6x100
At Forage 110 it was down to 8.8x100
At Forage 115 I now get 8.3x100

addtionally:

At Forage 115 pulling:

Q100 mats yields 8.3 mats per node
Q90 mats yields 7.7 mats per node
Q80 mats yields 7.1 mats per node

I fully suspect that at level 120 these numbers will become more like:

Q100 mats yields 7.7 mats per node
Q90 mats yields 7.1 mats per node
Q80 mats yields 6.6 mats per node

The discussion here is on the issue that using the EXACT same Prospecting and Extraction stanzas, we get less and less productivity as we improve in skill.

I claim this is a bug, but am willing to consider that it may be by design. I am hoping to get community opinion on the issue. Given my numbers above, do you feel like this is the expected behavior, or is it "broken"?

I stipulate that as a Harvester improves in skill, their productivity should only INCREASE.

Interesting. However, I need more data to put your findings in context.

What is your Primary (highest) Forage level?

What is you Forage level in the Terrain you were conducting those trials?

Can you conduct more trials closer to your Primary level? I am interested in your +Q10 -Q0 -Q10 -Q20 and -Q30 pull rates. Keep the other stanzas constant, just vary the Quality brick. Thanks for your input.

How it works

post patch 1 & harvest fix:

what they say: source time will get added based on the Q of the stanza you use [at first] (they may have removed the last 2 words, but originally they were there)

what they mean: source time will be buffered by the Q of the stanza you are currently using. (it will go down slower with better Q) the amount of buffering is determined by checking your forage level AND the Q you are using

so as you level, pulling the same Q will decrease your mats (as you observed)

as an example:
i pull using Q220, i get 13-15 mats dependign on how much care i needed ot apply
same prospect, same area, same mat:
i pull using Q130, and i get 6-8 mats

this will hold even when i work in an area with Optimal Q 100, where both stanza are above the possible max.

nice and logical that i can opt to pull lower Quality and get more, er, no wait, less quanity as a tradeoff.

Could someone answer me this, im 105 forest forager.

However if I go to tryker and start foraging at q60 (lvl56) then I keep getting explosions and gas erupts long before the bar gets below 40% ?
