first off some of this kami/karavan stuff can be answered if everyone just rftm'd
incase you don't know what rtfm stands for it means READ THE FREAKING MANUAL (although freaking can be replaced with a would that starts with f and rhymes with bucking)
but for those too lazy and/or stupid to read up on the history of atys, i will breifly describe it
the kami and karavan hate each other. the tribes are aligned via kami and karavan.
now you will say what does this matter to me?
well it means that if you do a kami mission to help the kami then you will gain fame with the kami as well as the groups associated with the kami. not only that but you will piss off the karavan and their allies
if you do a karavan mission, replace kami with karavan and karavan with kami in the paragraph above.
now if you want to say that's not the way it works, why not take a look at real life polictics. i might be totally off but i do believe several wars have been started because of goups pissing off the allies of a country.
critical fame mission bugs!
Re: critical fame mission bugs!
Some of your post can be responded to by RTFT (That's read the fricken thread). The problem that people are having is that you might to a mission for a group the is tied to the Kami and end up getting +fame in a group that supports the Karavan.
Re: critical fame mission bugs!
this bug.. is a little more of a major hassle, which means to the devs, they can fix it, but to us players means we start over
what do i mean by that, if they fix the problem, fine
if we cry about it to much the ONLY way they can fix it for the player base is an entire faction reset
I know I would rather just rework what I got when they fix the factions, and I DO NOT want to go through a faction reset
considering the hours I put into my faction bases now
i would become the donkey on the edge with the dragon eating the king in shrek if they reset my factions to base what we started with

Re: critical fame mission bugs!
On the note of one player doing a quest and it impacting the rest of the guilds fame (causing them to now lose fame with faction X where they hadn't before).
Imagine tribe X has never heard of guild Y. Then all of a sudden, tribe X finds out player Z of guild Y does something (whether good or bad) which changed tribe X's opinion of player Z. Tribe X now recognizes guild Y, and starts seeing what they are doing (spies!), now guild Y does alot of stuff that Tribe X doesn't like, so everyone in Tribe X starts having a lowered opinion of everyone in Guild Y.
Welcome to the wonderful world of stereotyping. You can't tell exactly who likes who in this game, who has what political ties, etc, etc. I had accidentally done a water-breakers mission around Pyr (me being tryker), and it raised that fame a little (and lowered Tryker). Now, whenever I do a Tryker Mission, I lose water-breakers fame, and I lose it fast. Same would anyone in my guild (if there was anyone else in my guild). It does make sense in the above mentioned paragraph. The tribe associates my guilds actions with what I do and everyone else (if they were in my guild). It sucks, but that's because it is politics. Derived from the words 'poli' meaning many and 'tics' meaning blood sucking creatures.

My Karavan fame is -98, Black Circle is yellow at -54, Antikami is -69.
None of these factions have initiated any attacks on me yet, although I hunt and forage next to their camps regularly, waving as their many patrols pass me by uncaringly.

i doubt karavan ever get to KOS. The tribes are the worry, especially when they happen to wander near many forage spots. All the tribes that got opened to my guild via this bug *start* at -66 or worse. If i manage to get a tribe to be aggro i will certainly post all the fame info i have when i get hit. If any in Melinoe would be kind enough to share info, that'd be great. And if anyone from Nevrax wants to jump in and state that tribes will never get to active aggression (contradicting what a GM said), please do so.neofuzz wrote:My Karavan fame is -98, Black Circle is yellow at -54, Antikami is -69.

EDIT: http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6035 (euro)
has mentions of a guild that confirms aggro tribessomewhere below -90...
As for fixing it, its a 2 or 3 day old problem at worst. they can do rollbacks (remember the messed up spawn-points?...) and loosing a few days fame work is far less bad than a full fame reset. i've also heard mumblings from a GM that they *can* do rollbacks on individuals in extraordinary circumstances, but *mumble* if they had to do it for a guild's worth of people that was *mumble* too much effort
that aspect is fine Zzei, if tis working. But if i do a mission *for a Kami* and get -kami fame, and +fame for a karavan loving tribe that the guild has avoided doing missions for to avoid such messes... thats just messed up. they admit thats a bug. they just dont want to clean up after it since its messy (one person hits bug, whole guild affected)zzei wrote:Welcome to the wonderful world of stereotyping. Re: critical fame mission bugs!
Yea, if it is a bug, then you (and your guild) are going to have to (eek!) stay away from those missions til its resolution (blarg!). Haven't been accosted by the water-breakers yet, and that fame is dropping fast, going from 90-92 personal tryker fame, dropped my w-b fame by 15ish points.

Re: critical fame mission bugs!
appologies. so far i've gotten antikami, goohead, and master of the goo fame via these bugs. we have two additional tribes in fame that *look* like they are karavan (huge -fame to start) but which i didnt open. i am trying to find out if anyone opened them knowingly, or if another famehound hit this same sort of issue.raynes wrote:BTW, what were the tribes? You never shared that info.
sources: mostly Zoraii (non-tribe) NPCs, although i think a Kami also gives wonky fame.
i have also found matis NPCs that give fyros fame, tryker that give zorai and kami fame, and maybe something off with one of the fyros NPCs i tried as well.
Re: critical fame mission bugs!
its not just stay away from those missions. one slip opens a karavan tribe (which Nevrax *might* be willing to tweak somehow) but sinc ethat makes that tribe appear on the fame roster of everyone in guild... if *anyone* in guild does ANY kami missions (or zoraii missions) then that person gets personal negative fame with said tribe. (and likewise a pro-karavan mission would get that person personal plusses...) And THAT is what i was told they would utterly not touch.zzeii wrote:Yea, if it is a bug, then you (and your guild) are going to have to (eek!) stay away from those missions til its resolution (blarg!). so its no missions allowed for anyone in guild until this gets resolved
to be fair to nevrax... i can see the difficulty - how do they know the mess got started from the bug and not from someones carelessness, etc.... the only sane fix i can think of is guild-wide fame rollback to patch 1. and thats still ugly.
(1) eat it (2) reform guild, dropping players that hit bug (3) rollback...
anyone got any other suggestions?
Re: critical fame mission bugs!
actually they can do a rollback to patch1, which would be some loss of work, but not horrible (remember how the did a spawn-point rollback??)zumwalt wrote:if we cry about it to much the ONLY way they can fix it for the player base is an entire faction reset
they may even have the ability to *selectively* do that.. ei, and opt-in rollback. The only reason i could see this not being an option IF they have the ability is worries about exploiting. Then again, I can't see hitting bugged fame and keeping it as leading to an exploit. If it is, then i should run off and exploit it and force them to roll me back (j/k)
