The test server is there to test for
Bugs and give an advance view of upcoming changes so that players can be ready for them when they go live.
The patch didn't have any bugs, it was working as intended. However, after going live, it was realized that the changes looked good in concept, but in practice it was determined that it was not quite what was needed, so it was revamped.
It's not a slap in the face to anyone, and they worked quickly to fix it, and have so far not managed to introduce more bugs with the patches (which is pretty darn impressive with the speed at which they have been done). Now, while I don't agree with all of the changes, such as the Huge aggro range on the kitin patrols (grrr), they have improved the gameplay overall.

Fixing it later doesn't help some people. They should be bending over backwards to keep you guys cause WoW and EQ2 are gonna take a huge market share in the very competitive market. Screw your customer base and well you will go bankrupt.
They need a course in professionality (ya sp?)
You haven't played MMO's long have you? What's even funnier is that you are acting as if EQ2 and WoW are any better. Specifically WoW, should I remind you of the undead changes they just made?
Anyway I don't think Nevrax has to worry about WoW or EQ2 taking all thier customers. From people who have played WoW I have heard it's dumbed down and like being in Disneyworld. The people that crave something hard and challanging will come to Ryzom. As for EQ2, well many many people have said the game feels like its 1/2 a game. It's not sold out as so many had planned.

Not totally correct, there ARE bugs still to sort out especially inventory bugs. Pretty discouraging to finally get into a group and later find out that all the mats looted were not going into an inventory. There has been a lot of concern over the 7 day vendor inventory issue, ammo disappearing when logging out, sap crystal bug, etc....
What really make this game more frustrating than others is the relative inability to shake aggro. For the most part, you just lay in a heap, unless you get runspeed and that is a laugh when you can make it into a town thinkning you are safe and have a Kipee waltz right up to the Trainers Area and kill you before guards respond. Lame.

This isn't really anything other than your personal preference and desire to run away from something you shouldn't have been fighting. As for the guards, Kipees are non-aggro (at least to Zoraï, I think to Fyros they do aggro, which brings up it's on interesting discussions), and any non-aggro animal the guards will not attack unless it attacks first. So, if you run PAST the guards to an area witout any, then the guards will leave the animal alone, however, if you stop at the guards, they will kill it quite quickly (do realize that you MUST be attacked first, hit or miss, so if you are down to only one hit left before death, you are likely to drop anyway. At least being at town, you have a decent chance of getting healed, thus no DP.
As for the inventory bugs, very minor, and fixed.

Kipees are non-aggro in fyros thankfully
And to the people wondering if its fun, I have two things to say.
1) For the most part the people who I saw leaving after patch1 either left *immediately* after and didn't see the fixes (which were amazingly fast coming) or had as their sole complaint something along the lines of "wah wah wah I can't kill monster X which is 100levels above me without getting hurt anymore"
2) The free trial is coming up; why not give it a try yourself and make up your own mind? Once you are able to get onto the main forums (or even just ingame), ask some people to help you and I'm sure you will find some who are willing (I would be if you asked). And if you read the post "Free trial is not free", then hopefully you saw my reply to that as well

Once again, I would like to remind the Ryzom zealots that
1) WoW IS STILL IN BETA
2) RYZOM HAS BEEN AT RETAIL STATUS FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS NOW
Herein lies the difference.
Ryzom released too soon, with a complete lack of mab and skill balance, which the devs felt they had to correct after release even at the cost of their own playerbase. Let me remind you also that the majority of Ryzom subscribers have 'voted with their feet' on the outcome of the ill-advised Patch1. Now Nevrax is responding with hurried patches (that, as far as I know, have bypassed ATS altogether) as damage control to stop the bleeding.
Now I'm not a fan of either EQ2 or WoW, but if you seriously think that the experiences of EQ2 and WoW players are going to be the same as those of Ryzom players over the first 1-2 months of play, you really need to check your meds. They may have expired.
