Cerest is... but you cant answer to everyone considering the way the forums is going.
Cerest is a great person and all, but she is a CSR and not a developer. The people at Nevrax have purposely choosen to put a filter inbetween them and their customer base. Time will tell if this is a good idea or not, but its looking like its possibly not.
- They explain game mechanics when they can to people.
Thats nice, but its easier to leave those question to be answered by advanced players... less time consumming then answering them so less $$$ waisted on explaining the game, and it gets explained
There are some things that players cannot answer because they have no way of knowing. For instance:
- What does dodge modifier do? How is it checked, how is it accumulated?
- Same for parry.
- How are resist rates calculated?
- Do any of the statistics have an affect on combat other than increasing pools?
That's just 4 things off the top of my head that unless a developer pipes up, we will never know o.O
- They actually ask for suggestions on what people would like to see.
Wishlist...
Yeah the wishlist is a good start, the only difference between here and CoH is that the devs will pipe up in the wishlist threads over there and say things like, "That's a really great idea!" or 'I don't think we can do that right now but we'll keep it in mind" or "That's definately going in!"
Right now I imagine someone at Nevrax gets a printout and then puts it in the circular file.
- They ask for player feedback on how to fix issus with the game.
Players are already giving feedbacks on the forum, thats why i posted about being "constructive"
This is disengenous. Players post "Feedback", but that doesn't guarentee that anyone is listening. There is a big difference between a Dev or CSR starting a topic that says, "We want your feedback on XXX" than a bunch of people starting a bunch of threads about random topics.
Also, your "constructive" post was nothing more than a flame and an attack on people who disagree with you. I didn't find it very constructive at all. But meh, whatever.
- They always admit it when they screw something up.
Why would Cerest put a sticky to the petition if he didnt admit they screw up in some area.
Because someone asked Cerest to. Also, I repeat once again: Cerest is a wonderful person but not a developer at Nevrax. She can post a sticky about whatever she likes to because she is the board moderator and I'm sure that if she plays the game she probably has her own opinions, but Cerest putting a sticky on the board does not in any way shape or form equate into a developer from Nevrax saying, "Hey we made a mistake and we're looking into it".
I get the impression from you that you enjoy this game so much that you feel the developers can do no wrong - that is fine, I'm not going to belittle you for your beliefs. However, you may consider that people who disagree with this opinion you hold are not personally attacking you... and infact are not even trying to communicate with you at all.
Perhaps that will keep you from posting more "constructive" posts that attack and insult about 1/2 of the players who visit this board.
Somehow... I doubt it
