I forage a lot (90% of the time) so I'm OK with the changes, but I can see that more thought needs to go into the melee/magic side. I've been doing OK with the little fighting I've done, but it could be tweaked a bit to make it more enjoyable for those who spend most of their time in combat.
I'd be foraging happyly too.... but sadly.. my inventory is bugged beyond belief, I cannot get new materials even if I sold out the old ones... and I am unable to craft whithout materials..... I'd whine less if at least I would be harvesting now.

also unless I got an escort is near to impossible arrive to my harvesting spots.

It's got to be said - I'm far more hacked off with some sections of the community than I am with the patch.

The game can be recoded to fix problems - I'm not sure that can be done with people's attitudes (at least within the framework of the game!).

people attitude will get alot better if things are returned to what they was.... upon misery feeds disgrace, upon frustration feasts bad manners.. the community was great before because it was happy.

Once you get used to the patch it is very good in my opinion yes some mobs are hard to kill but you can kill them even solo you just have to be more carefull

why do you ever forget to mention the other side? if they will restore to the state before patch1, there will be also a bunch of people leaving the game. many people I know would not even take part in a poll with answer possibilities like that.. we love the new patch, now ryzom has become a new and even more strategic game than before.
please dont think, because of the many people that posted their /signed in the petition, that this would be the general opinion on the ryzom boards, many people just hate to write into boards or to take part in something like a poll/petition.. etc.
it is the same with those "i quit.." threads, you will ever find those threads but will you ever find more then 2 "i love it" or "i will stay" threads, if we are happy, we are quite and enjoy it, but if we dislike it, we will discuss/cry/mourn about what we dislike..
hope you got my point, because english is not my first language.

As i said in the initial post thats not what this poll is for.
The question is would you still be angry if the community was happy? Its not what do you think of the patch or do you like yubos more than gingos, i was woundering that, if there were many people, like myself who feel that the community is more important than the game.

Example. I work in an office. I do a dull job. On the flip side i get more than enough money to live my life and do the things i enjoy. Saying that, i dont change my job to any other office job because of the people i work with and the feel the working environment has. So the question is, would you stay in a job where the work was hard and a bit annoying at times but you worked with top people, or would you not. (remember, you also get good money form the job - being the analogy for the fun of ryzom)

-----I am aware i can sound snappy and harsh when posting, please know this post is meant to sound like i have a smile on my face and a glass of orange juice in my hand. Its not a rant.

Well, it stands to reason this:

1) The changes in the combat system were not well known before the patch. Infact very few people anticipated the level of change. Many of us were aware that certain spells were getting "re-balanced" (I don't like using nerf especially when its obvious to see that blind was over powered..) however no one knew the extent of the modifications made to the game.

2) If people were playing the game happily before (even people who like the patch) it stands to reason that they would continue to play along happily if the game had its risk/reward ratio tuned back towards closer to the original state of the game.

I mean, in all complete honesty (and we can be honest here right?) many of the people who are die-hard defenders of this patch would not leave at this point under almost any circumstance. I'm not accusing achim of being this way, but for some people Nevrax could crap on a plate and hand them a spoon.. and well you can guess the rest.

If you flip through some of the pages of the sticky petition on the NA boards you will see a few people who are like, "I like this patch but I don't want to see everyone leave".

I think that position makes sublime sense. MMO's after all are business endeavours. You may like/not like a particular change to the MMO, but if it cannot sustain itself fiscally - well then it doesn't matter too much. Right now Ryzom has a very small player base, and if you look at some of the polls the number of people who are quitting is a significant amount (as a total percentage) of the revinue of this game.

Frankly the competition with MMO's through the holiday season is going to be *crushing* this year. I expect to see plenty of gift wrapped boxes of EverQuest 2 and Worlds of Warcraft this Christmas - probably not so many boxes of Saga of Ryzom.

Obviously there needs to be some sort of happy medium established here. A game that doesn't offer a good risk/reward scenario is not one that is likely to retain customers (and in my opinion both pre and post patch 1 risk/reward scenarios are not good). However a game that alienates a large portion of its subscriber base without being able to garner new subscriptions to replace that churn is doomed as well.

Anyway, we will all have to wait and see what happens.

Me personally, I just got my copy of EverQuest 2 tonight. I am going to enjoy more hamster-wheel goodness from SoE until this mess gets sorted out and I can decide if I want to continue on with Ryzom or not.

Later

"You missed off an option from this poll:

I am not angry with the patch"

I think the patch was a step in the right direction for sure, it just didn't go far enough. ie.: skill points could be increased a bit more or skill price reduced slightly more; foraging could be slighty more dangerous for certain mats.
Overall Its made the game better.

And the ones who like the style of the game will stay for longer..
