Whether distance has something to do with it is very interesting, and the way you described your testing sounds quite serious.. I will certainly try to figure this one out aswell, as it may be very usefull information

my inventory is utterly unusable, the scowling gingos utterly destroys me. I cannot solo anymore. and refer to all the other posts for the other problems I had. I'm tired of costantly point out what is wrong.

I can see both points to this argument. On one side we have the higher lvl's and I don't mean in crafting and harvesting. Who are probably doing very well adjusting to the changes, their only drawback is the amount of dp they get. Now with the lower lvl's it's virtually impossible to hunt unless you like killing Yubos all day which, tends to get a bit boring. They also have problems with the amount of dp they get, not because they pick up more dp each time but because they get killed more often.
Now, I don't think anyone really cares about how often they get killed, but what does annoy everyone is the amount of dp they get.
