Who do you think you are??
50% of americans think Paris is a country and you can say how we work??
French Devs and French GM are online on the Klient for the w-e, they work...
Sorry for my bad english but can you speak french?
No need to be a stereotypical grumpy frenchman. Some people just made some speculation about some labor laws in your country as a possible reason why we haven't seen any movement on the issues with the game over the weekend (so far).
Being as you are french and I assume live in france, perhaps you can enlighten us to the labor laws of your country and if its possible or not for an employer to require its employees to work overtime.
PS: 50% of americans do not think Paris is a country. That's just another load of xenophobic BS about us yanks that has become all the vogue across the pond. If you don't want people sterotyping you, then you ought to refrain from the same nasty habits.
Btw. Paris is located in Texas (just look on a map, you'll see).

And the problem is still here....
A little anouncement of another patch would certanly calm things up.

dpkdpk wrote:Quite hard. Have you ever worked with a system as complex as Saga of Ryzom? It's not just undoing whatever files were sent to the clients. It's changing all of the files on the servers, removing or re-adding columns to the various database tables, reverting cron (scheduled programs) commands, reverting the *data* in those databases back to an older state. And a whole lot more.
Not to mention ... What do you think would happen if they were to roll people back to before Patch 1? You think people are upset now...
I did, it's quite easy to fix too you know? it's called... BACKUP OF FILES. in important things before patching one always makes a backup of the server, then you make huge apologies and ask people to reinstall the game.. or make a de patch for the client (it is not that hard either alot of games allows de-patching see NWN).

NWN is nowhere near the scale of Ryzom. Not even close. There's no NWN server farm out there maintaining all player data or running the game worlds, for instance.
What you're suggesting is that they should have undone the patch -- I presume the day after issuing it? People are already complaining about "work lost" when there were half hour rollbacks before. Can you imagine if there was a full day? All the new skills people were trying out, gone, and they were thrown back in to their old ones?
It's better for them to spend effort making things better, going forward, instead of going backwards.

do you even read my posts little bugger?... I said BACKUP for the servers.. where it is store all the character info the databases the monsters info... you understand or your deaf? and then a de-patch for the CLIENT, which is totally de-patchable. if they didn't do a backup of the servers before their patch they are utterly dumb.. eve online ALWAYS does it hell.. some organization people.
and it's widely known, complaints for things losts decays after some time, people don't leave because they lost 1 or 2 items or 1 or 2 levels (which they can get back if they de-patch).
as for all the new skills people try out.. OMG what a biiiig loss! they will reset stanzas again when they try again the next rebalance patch. man you are being purposefully dumb or you born like that?
and 'go back' would mean ADMIT they have made an error. and this has been proven several times in other MMRPG that it's a very appreciated thing in the community.

Actually all they need to do is update their database with the old monster information. I'm reasonably sure that any competant software engineer would store this information in a database or spreadsheet of some sort. The things that people are having problems with are:
1) Monster Damage
2) Monster Spell Resists.
Now, its possible that this is a flat scale function of level. If thats the case then its even easier, all that needs to be done is a server side patch of the algorithm that determins damage and resistance. That's even less painful and time consuming than a partial database rollback.
So, two possible options - Monster Damage/Resists are stored as information in a database or are determined by an algorthmic scale. Both are easily fixable without doing anything at all to the client.
I would imagine that either option would take about 1 hour of man work to prepare, another 2 to test on the test server and possibly the same amount of time to "push" to the live servers.
They could even do more testing I suppose... but given their past history, why start now?

hell you are totally right buddy, ANYONE ELSE HERE HAS EVER HEARD OF SERVER SIDE PATCHES?!?!? eve online had patched like.. 3 times lately.. and I had to donwload NOTHING. as for the database.. hell yeah if they did backup like ANY intelligent mmrpg systemist would do they would be able to copy the old database on the new... it doesn't seem to me that monsters have NEW abilities, kipees stunned even before.. just now they do it MORE.

*Btw. Paris is located in Texas (just look on a map, you'll see).*
A poll of American school leavers a couple of years ago discovered that a majority couldn't identify their own _CONTINENT_ on a map.
They assumed it was Eurasia because it was the biggest one.
Otherwise, yes, Europe does have much stricter laws on amount of hours worked etc, France especially.
