Blind was the sole factor for people forming large 3k xp hunting groups and churning mobs 40-60 levels above them into "xp" 1 every 20 seconds. Remove blind from the equation, and your leveling slows down.

Secondly, people were fighting without armor not because they couldn't get any equipment, but because the decay rate on their items were so obscenely high that most people saved their armor for when they had to solo. I know I did.

Lastly, Taking a year to reach "max level" would be about 3-4 times longer than any other RPG on the market. If thats what you saw and that bothered you, the I guess you have much different expectations of the vast majority of people who play other RPGS. Even then, given the fact that after you obtain max level in that *one* skill branch, you have atleast a dozen other ones to raise as well...

Leveling in this game to "maxitude" or whatever, already was going to take a huge amount of time. Now that huge amount of time has increased 10 fold.

It may come as a shock to some people, but many of us actually enjoy advancing our characters. I don't need a level every 10 minute ala blind, but I do actually need *some way to gain exp*. Over the last two days I think I have gotten 7 levels of forage and about 40 levels of crafting experience. I have gotten 1 level of elemental magic during that time.

Using the original posters logic, if once the crafters start "out leveling' the melee/mages on the game, will the developers then see fit to nerf crafting? I mean, we can't have people maxing out a single skill in under a year can we....

o.O

Patch 1 is obviously a screw up. They made the game so hard that they had to *emergency patch* the newbie mobs on the newbie island. Yes, the weekend of their big free trail they had made it so that a new player couldn't defeat a yubo in melee combat. That speaks volumes of how little they tested this stuff.

Seriously think about it... would you make it so that it was impossible (or nearly so) for a brand new player to your game, that you are hoping will subscribe mind you, cannot even advance their characters fighting past level 1 without a team?? Even the most rigorous forced grouping game I know of (EverQuest) gives you a break on that for most classes up to atleast level 20 for melee folks and much higher for mages.

And its so obviously not a design decision, because they backed it out the very next day after someone pointed it out to them.

People *shouldn't have to point that out*. That is such a collasal blunder it boggles the mind. The rest of the game right now is also in that same state. It's not fun, grouping makes almost very little difference to your survival. For instance, I cannot heal someone faster than a monster 20 levels below them can do damage. Do we now need 2 healers for every 1 melee fighter in a party? My afflicion spells never land anymore, and when they do they hardly do anything at all. Attempting to fight anything above level 70 or so is just asking for death penalty sooner or later.

I would like to atleast have the *illusion* I can always win, even if thats not the case. Right now I know very much as a fact that sooner or later I am going to die, and generally before I remove any DP. So why bother?

I would probably have to agree with most of the stuff said here.
