Umm, how does one watch for risk with a 1/5 chance to instantly be killed? What exactly would we be watching for?
sounds like you're having fun too, unless that's sarcasm. hard for me to tell, cause that would be fun for me. in fact, i was doing that last night on a smaller scale.pcheez wrote:U want comedy ? A raging varinx, hits for 1210 damage when i am casting,i have 1200 hp. Had a friend with me that had 1250 heal .
SO it was basically cast, get resisted whack, insta death, insta rez, cast, get resisted, whack, insta death, insta rez, cast, actually land a lvl 140 spell on a lvl 170 mob! whack, insta death, insta rez, repeat....
took about 15 minutes, oh and there was a group of 3 meleers with us, not like they could hit the thing .... i died approx 20-30 times. Jolly good fun

anyways, i'm gonna pick on you now.
you said lvl 140 spell, so i'm gonna assume you're around 140. i'm also gonna assume your friend(s) are around 140 too. you've also only got 2-3 friends with you(i make a lot of assumptions ;P).
so you're all around 140ish, and you're taking on something 30 levels above you. you're attacking a leapord/tiger/lizard/dinosoar thing that's 30 levels more powerful than you. i'm scared for you, are you? cause with the spell resistances now-a-days, that thing's gonna resist 90% of your spells easily. it's also gonna dodge 60-75% of your attacks, and hit you for, as you've mentioned, craploads of damage.
so why are you fighting this monstrosity that's surely going to slaughter you and your friends? i'm guessing it gives you decent xp huh. see that's the problem. nevvy doesn't want you to get decent xp anymore. because you're lvl 140 after a month of playing. so they're gonna make it hard for you to get decent xp. i like good xp, but i'm not going to fight the devs for it. i don't suggest it to others either.
so i'll pretend you said "but that sucks, i want to advance fast." well my friend, if you want to advance fast, i'd suggest finding the perfect, not super tough, good xp, fast respawning herbavore and farm it til the end of time. or you could quit Ryzom. i'm doing option #1. i hope you don't choose option #2. i'm already missing the tons of people that have quit.
so now i'm gonna pretend you said "ok, so i should fight stuff closer to my level?"
yes. it's bad xp, and it's still pretty hard. but it's not impossible or boring(for me or any of my friends, but i'll admit, we're kind of... special).
now, this isn't just for you, and with all of these assumptions, probably isn't really for you. but there are people out there that think this way. and i have taken it upon myself to humiliate them! er... help them have fun. because after all, you can be super uber level 250 in everything and still be bored.
If you don't know the actual situation from experience you shouldn't hassle someone. You expect a team to take something that is the same level as a single person (or close)? It's a team, teams are meant to take on something higher than them. See you don't know what's going on here. If they don't take on a mob at that level and they try even one lower then they get like 300 xp. 300?? You can't honestly expect people to level like that do you? There is a very NARROW line of what works for decent xp. My guild can't even level any of our higher skills because NOTHING works for xp! We've had to totally abandon leveling our higher skills at all. When you get 42 -300 xp for something it's just toiling and unrewarding. Not to mention it was extremely frustrating doing it and DP just kept getting wracked up. When you get to higher levels you're going to understand that it's even worse than what you are hearing from most people at lower levels who are unhappy. Please dont speculate about what it might be about. Until you get there please dont hassle these people and just believe us that it just SUCKS for us right now and is extremely unrewarding and frustrating. The game doesn't progress on a linear level. Things are very unbalanced right now and every level seems to be different and throw a wrench in the works and everything has to be reworked constantly like it's was rocket science. It's very haphazard.euwest wrote:sounds like you're having fun too, unless that's sarcasm. hard for me to tell, cause that would be fun for me. in fact, i was doing that last night on a smaller scale.

Exagerating a bit are we ?jjm152 wrote:The game is completely screwed up right now. I had a level 110 melee and a level 93 melee get killed by a level 88 clopper before I could even get a single damn heal off.
A single heal!!
No I am not exagerating at all. Log on to the game and send a tell to either Ayno or Lysdexica. They were the two melees I am talking about. Ask them about the time in muse with the level 88 dangerous clopper. See if facts match up.jeffhill wrote:Exagerating a bit are we ?
WIth my 63 healer I had no problem keeping a 69 melee alive doing dangerous cloppers, just 4 of us getting 2900xp. Made 3 levels in a few hours. Yes they died the first few fights, then I realized I had to concentrate and not goof off.
But you are right, its TOO intense. If you don't pay attention for a few seconds your tank is dead, so its not as enjoyable.
