Yes, bring back the old system. The old system may have allowed people to level too fast, but if I understand correctly that was mostly due to the blind speel, so, fix the blind spell.

Other than that, if the system needs tweaking, tweak away. My only request is, since I have a pure melee character, please, please, please, don't take the FUN out of fighting!

xasher wrote:The new combat system has its good points....you can kill mobs faster...so you can kill more of them faster. I do agree tho that the amt of DP's acrued for dieing should be lowered a little...heck died 3 times and at level 40 i acrued 33k of debt thats 3 deaths and 20 kills to get rid of it.

I have a question tho i noticed last night that even with debt..after you kill a mob some of the xp you get still goes to you and the debt gets some...is this true or does all your xp go to the debt ?
To me, being able to kill mobs faster is the worst feature of the new patch. I want something a little more involved than click-kill click-kill click-kill please. The new system isn't quite that bad, but it sure is close!

Before I used to have a chance to use increase damage, bleed, and my attack after dodge and critical hit, and in a long fight I had to manage hp and stamina, maybe decide which to self heal, 'cause I know that I can do only one. Now, if I can't kill a mob in a few hits, I most likely die. Best strategy is increase-increase-increase-dead, becuase if I don't get max hits all the time my chance of being killed goes way up! So, instead of 5 different attack, now I only use 1.

Before the patch, some of the most exciting encounters were when I got unexpected adds. Sure, I died now and then, but I had a chance, and if I played smart I could survive! What a rush that was! Now, if I get unexpected adds I have no chance at all, I die! No fun there at all.

I don't care if they put the combat system back exactly as it was, or do something different. All I want from Nevrax is my fun back. That is after all what I am paying for.

But don't bring back "Easy Mode" blind. Combat was easy enough without it anyway.

Gralen,

I think double the hits would have been fine but in my experience the hits were at least quadrupled. That to me was way too big of a jump especialy if I am only going to get 28 XP out of the deal when I don't die. I do agree that the beast were to under powered but now I can barely live. I would be most happy half-way between where we were and where we are now. At least we would have some time to actually hit back when we are aggro'd. Having extra stamina is almost useless now except to be able to use a higher QL weapon.

I still like Ryzom and I do believe that Nevrax will correct this and come to a better balance, but for the time being I will reserve my right to not resubscribe unless I see progress.

Even though I voted no, my real choice would have been one not listed. I also think this is the one we will actually see.

They were right to try to adjust combat to be more difficult. They just went too far. The right setting is somewhere between the old and the new.

For me, all I'm concerned about is the dodge rate. I dodge almost never now, when I used to dodge quite a lot.

The dodge modifier number on my armor is still 0, but my armor is named so and so Armor with Dodge Modifier, so I assume it's still good. Maybe it's because my armor is named Basic even though it was made with all Choice?

If the dodge rate is brought back near what it was before, I'd do all right.

Absolutely NOT! I think the current combat system is great, just needs some slight tweaking with some of the resistance of spells for mages and maybe needs a little more dodge tweaking for melee. The previous combat system was WAY too easy.. We could explore almost anywhere we wanted. We were killing red and purple colored lvl 220+ creatures when shouldn't of been able to yet.

With the current system it is harder, but I personally think it's more fun. Last night we got a group together and were able to get 2222xp for a group of 9 people and we never died. We were killing creatures under a minute or two, so it was GREAT xp! Also another great thing about the new combat system is less degrading of equipment since we are now fighting lower lvl creatures. That's a HUGE plus in my book.

I think the current combat system should remain but tweak dodge more (so we dodge lower lvl creatures more often) and they are fixing the spell resistance with the patch today.

I liked the old adventure system.

It had some bugs though that should of been addressed rather than just altering everything and not checking/balancing why things were wrong.

Argo radiuses on aggresive mobs are just way to big now and the aggressive mobs hit too hard.

I think if they would of fixed their spell system to work they way the spells descirptions said 95% of their problems would have been erased. IE level 1 blind could be cast successfully on level 100+ mobs.

I think they should let casters buy abilities a few levels ahead of their level and put resist caps on the spells based on level against the mobs level.

If your grouping this would allow you to hunt higher level mobs due to the need for more xp with group mates, but would eat your sap faster.

Say at level 50 you could purchase up to tier 7 spell.
The tier 7 spell is say 80% success rate vs a level 70 mob and say 50% succest against a level 71 to 90 and so forth up and almost 100% rate on lower level mobs. This would of solved blind assuming they adjusted the effect of blind to be what they wanted instead of a 100% cripple.

Personally i feel the old mobs database for hp/attacks/argo radius were very well balanced. I do think there were some bugs in spells that needed to be fixed as well as some evasion tuning to the old system but right now its just way out of balance.

anyway, ill stop rambling.
