We appreciate your comments and take your concerns to heart. Please allow us the opportunity to complete the work we've spent many months preparing for you. We feel that if you give the patch a chance and keep an open mind you'll find that the concerns spectulated and debated on this forum aren't unsurmountable and you'll find the game improved and more balanced.
We are unable to make comments in direct response due to the shear volume of work and we do not want to give one group of players preference over another.
Thank you for your patronage and continued support,

How's that?

the above is simply a personal response to days of negative posts regarding Patch 1.
That is one of the best responces I have read in quite sometime.

It seems that there are a few people who have played on ATS and are unsatisfied with the changes, and so they are raising a huge stink here, bawling repeatedly about the same points and presenting their opinions as near fact. It seems to me that those few people fall into the category of power-gamers. I think that when the patch hits the general public of the game, the response will be different than we've seen so far from the elite few.
At the same time, many of us who have approached this with an open mind have been very disappointed with zero communication and more importantly, zero communication of vision. And some of us are also convinced the sky isn't falling with the patch, but have many, many other valid concerns.
If we had some idea where the game was supposed to be going - or where their ideas of what was right and what was wrong with it - many of the concerns raised by people regarding the ATS patch wouldn't have come up. But when a patch has bugs that have been reported yet not fixed, has huge balance changes, and has no real answer to the vision question besides what we can imply rightly or wrongly from the sum of changes...its not just 'powergamers' that have a problem. And its not just a few points over and over; I got tired of reading the harvest whines, and then was startled to personally discover a number of other things that just scare me that I've brought up in forums. (And by the way, since I'm not over level 100 in any skill, I don't feel I'm a powergamer or 'l33t. I play as best I can, and when I had access to ATS I actually took advantage of it and shared my opinions. Sorry if it ruined your experience. Perhaps you could bother taking the time to preview and test changes too!)
I respect Nevrax for saving money outsourcing. I also have seen how smart MMORPGs have senior dev involvement on big topics. Statesman's - the founder of CoH - work on occasionally popping in with a tidbit or major guide decision on what is right or wrong has actually saved at least a thousand accounts from cancelling. (His mea culpa on a stealth nerf got a thread devoted to how people who were going to cancel accounts didn't.)
Nevrax doesn't seem concerned about this. And that's a problem. I guess the game will survive without dev communication if that's what they want. Its just far poorer for it.

I agree, we have to test and see, in GAME how this patch actually affects the whole of our server (and the other servers will see how it affects their servers) before we truly can expect the devs to listen to our opinions on a patch.
This is NOT saying that those that HAVE those opinions are wrong, just judging something that we haven't all experienced yet.

Please don't stray this thread into being patch specific or a bash against the CSR's. The lack of communication about important issues in the game is a Nevrax issue, not a CSR issue. Unfortunately the CSR's are our only channel through which we can communicate with them. If another channel of communication were to open up I would gladly use it.

Thank you very much elfmatic for your reply that was my exact point. I dont care whether the answere comes through a third party group or the man thats holding the power cable to Neverax itself, however and official response was all that was asked for.
For those who have already begun the small bashing attempts, all though they have been very sly in they way they have worded their response please refrain from doing it in this thread.

Coming from quite a few different mmo's I've played over the last 5 or 6 years, including actively participating in the forums for each, I think I could count the number of official replies from a game developer on one hand. It's like a general policy to avoid posting, as in most cases it just becomes flame bait for forum trolls, where they know they can get the desired attention. Any official comment on these forums in regards to Patch 1 addressing the opinions of gamers would be asking for trouble, lots of it. If any of you expect official feedback from sources other than the Themis group well ahh... get used to disappointment.

If Nevvy is going to take that as their official stance, that's fine. Have a CSR Post it somewhere that it can be referred back to and I for one will never ask for it again.

it wasn't uncommon for someone official to jump into the forums and post in everquest, asherons call, anarchyonline. I seem to remember a forum presence and occasional post from official folks during my brief times in playing earth and beyond, as well as EVE online. DAOC, Neocron, SWG and FF I didn't play enough to say, but I'm sure someone will say for me.
If nevrax chooses to participate in the forums so rarely that it becomes a major thing in the forums whenever they do post, then they have to deal with a huge amount of previously unreleasable blowback at that time... or live with the growing tension and frustration. If they choose to actually participate in the forums as members of the community like the dev's in AC chose to, then they get to deal with a generally much friendlier bunch willing to not go for the juggular right away.

Yep - it did get pretty hot in that other thread ... I open my email this morning and see this:
Daily Thoughts
"Newspapers are unable, seemingly to discriminate between a bicycle accident and the collapse of civilization." George Bernard Shaw
"Nobody believes the official spokesman, but everybody trusts an unidentified source." Ron Nesen
"The degree of one's emotion varies inversely with one's knowledge of the facts -- the less you know the hotter you get." Bertrand Russell
D'oh!! *Alanis sings "how appropriate"* But I'm still fearful. Maybe I should take a couple of days off from the game ...
