I do not understand this mentality. The ATS is there for the very reason to see what changes have been done. So just accept the crap that is on the ATS and wait til patch day? Why bother with the ATS if we just accept it and wait for it to go live?

I think it is wiser to attempt to point out the obvious flaws in the ATS patch and hopefully get them addressed before they are released because in its current state it WILL drive people away.

DoubleTap in his linked review wrote: The Dev's do not play this game, and may not have ever played a similar game or any game for that matter. There is absolutely no way anyone found enjoyment in harvesting while testing this mess they implemented. At level 221 (on ATS) I still dont have enough skills to stay alive and harvest.
I think that the reason you are finding so many issues that you are disgusted with may be because you have somehow managed to level your character to an insanely high plateau within a month of the game's release. So, of course the changes are going to feel like a massive nerf to you. I believe that for most players, who haven't had the opportunity or perhaps even the inclination to race through the game at 120 levels per hour, the issues you are bringing up will not be nearly as painful as they are for you. I realize that you may not be happy at what I am saying, but it really seems to me that at least part of the reason the Devs are implementing these changes is to slow down the hyper pace at which people like you are rocketing through the game. If your area of concentration was fight, magic, or even crafting, and you had worked your way up one of those skill trees to within 25 levels of the cap, I would imagine you would have similar issues with some changes being made in those areas. **shrug**

Also, I think that the assertion that you make that the devs don't play this game or any similar type of game is absurd; this is not because I feel it's necessary to defend them, but simply because how could they develop or even be in a position to develop this game without having played and without being familiar with games?

By the way, if you are not finding enjoyment in the game, I would recommend that you log out and find something else to do. There are plenty of other things to do in life than obsess over a game. Maybe part of the reason that it seems like it has become a chore is because you've treated it more like work than recreation.

Anyhow, well, sorry if this turned out to be a flame. :(

Actually being a Master of Pain, I'm quite happy with the changes made to elemental magic. This does not negate the fact that Nevrax is making a SERIOUS mistake with the foraging dynamics of this game.

I think you fail to realize - If this is so upsetting and so diffiult for those that are so high and so skilled in harvesting, it is going to be insanely difficult for the average person to level and impossible for the solo player.

The new system is forcing you to group harvest it seems.

True, if you stay on newbie isle you're not gonna notice a big difference.

Yes indeed. There is no high level content in the game. It in fact is very empty with nothing to do but grind on character development. There is no story (yet) , there is nothing to do for a guild (yet), the game was released prematurely in that aspect.

The one thing most that are still here are enjoying still is developing their character, which up to patch one was possible, even solo.

They put in the worst possible solution to the "no-content at higher levels" problem that one could imagine. Why on earth would I now want to go and get my ass kicked by the very same creature I could easily solo before the patch - with the same reward: nothing.

There is no loot in the game except for useless mats, no purpose to kill creatures except for a little bit of xp and furthermore nothing new to explore, just the same boring creatures, now at a higher level.

There is a point about a challenge that Nevrax is totally missing - the reward for beating it.

I like doing things in groups. This is a MMOG, after all. ;)

You mentioned that you couldn't get a q230 pull. Right now on a q100 source i can pull q100 BUT if i use the same stanza on a q150+ source i can only get 99. I had thought about this and i think you have proved that it'll still work the same. I also noticed that i never ever get a fail when trying to pull up q50 srouces and nearly never on q100 source BUT i step up to a q150+ source trying to get q100 (well q99) mats and i DO fail often. By fail i mean that i get lost catches and spoiled qualities just incase you didn't understand. Making Jewelry of q80 with 70 diadem skill i fail sometime BUT when i go to make the earrings with only 55 skill i fail and fail alot. Try going to harvest some q150 sources or even q200 sources and see how bad it is to pull the mats. Pulling q250 mats should be hard even for a 250 forager since they are the highest in the game. You think you are trying to get 230 from a q250 source, however the game thinks you are trying to get 250 since thats the max quality. Just like a crafter using q50 mats with a q100 crafting option will have problems making something trivial to them.
In your review you also mention that magic was the only skill that you have a little breathing room for with SP. You also mention that both your Affs are over 100, and probably a good bit of. Do you have another harvest skill over 200 and still have problems with harvest sp?
As for dodging the suckling brodoc, I've never dodged anything DURING a cast. I dodge before i cast and after i cast but not during even on the lowest of mobs. You might not be able to dodge while you have a link established either.

(Edit: This is just constructive critizism. I gave a 5 star rating even tho i didn't post anything really positive. Good job on your testing and review =D)

Actually it doesn't. Harvesting alone is less effective, but it IS possible. And you can bet I will still do it after the patch.

Also, you are looking at the things from the wrong angle. The changes annoy so many highlvl harvesters BECAUSE they are high-lvl. Because they are used to this. It is not "harvesting", which becomes impossible, but "harvesting as we know it".

A new player who joins after the patch and starts to harvest will voice only very few of the complaints, since he only knows the current situation.
