It will be fine. Ryzom has already pulled in a niche group of players. Worse comes to worse, they can combine the European English and NA servers.
AC2 is still going and they only have 400 people on the server at a time. My guess is that Ryzom has much more than that.

If this game is run by the French... Well then we are just going to change all documentation that says Nevrax is a French company to Nevrax is a company from across the pond. We can't have French Fries, then we can't have a French gaming company! LOL

I should hope that ryzom sticks around long enough for people to try out this game during and after the upcoming holiday season. Maybe Santa should stockpile this game and give it to lots of boys and girls.
I would think that Nerax would be able to hold out for at least a few months to see if sales and subscriptions will bounce up during the winter before even considering closing down this game.

Wow, EQ2, Matrix Online, Guild Wars, LOTR:BFME.....and so on, I doubt Ryzom stands a chance. They should combine the NA and the European server to stop losing more and more costumers.
There is not much happening in towns at the moment and it gets boring walking around alone.
Reviews about the game are not helping also .

Depending on what town you are talking about. Pyr in Fyros lands is a region unto itself. Most people have moved or move into the oasis or Dyron. So region chat is not all inclusive of who is in the area.
Alot of people also tend to only speak in guild once they are guilded ... or in team while teamed. Yes there are few people in some areas and I cant speak much for anything outside Fyros lands.
AO had worse reviews than this if I remember correctly and they are going strong still. Even to the point of being mentioned for innovations that the players have came along with.
Will SoR survive November ... personally I have had enough of the bigger MMO's and the new ones hold little appeal ... SoR will develop it's own area of gameplay and while it may never rival the larger games it will survive. UO is still around after all these years afterall ...

Raul, I wouldn't mind a server merge but I don't think it is neccessary yet. Also, I believe the LOTR MMO due out next year is Middle Earth Online, not LOTR: BFME. BFME is the RTS I believe. ><
Also, welcome back =)

SoR, I think, will do more than just 'survive'. It may not approch EQ proportions, however, EQ appeals to a (generalization) different type of player. In EQ, it's all about be 133t and getting all that ph4t 13wt. Ryzom is more community and civilization building, as well as the story-line.
There is also an even greater storyline that I think hasn't been picked up yet.. this is only Chapter 1: Atys. That would lead one to believe that there will be other chapters and worlds as well, those evil Karavan invading and enslaving other planets.
There will, of course, need to be more content added for continued playability. Look at EQ. It stated not even a quarter as 'big' as it is now, and it's player-base in the beginning was really small as well. But, it kept chugging, even with all of it's original bugs and issues and is still trying to work out bugs and balance.
Also remember, that once the base work is done, it's fairly cheap to run a server. All you need is electricity, the ISP, and a tech to reboot/restore if things really mess up. Most of us, however, dont' have a clue as to the size of the other communities. I forgot how to read French years ago, so can't tell if they are empty, full, or what, and since we can't log into those serves and see for ourselves, unless someone comes and says it's empty, I'd like to assume it's thriving.
Something else to remember is that it did have European designers, not American, and they know what they like better than we do. The NA server itself, as well as service for us, may just be because it's such a large market (we seem to have a lot of "disposable income"), and one more server as stated above really doesn't take that much to maintain, that's it's well worth it.
All in all, I'd not worry too much about SoR going away, it'll probably actually grow if everyone goes out and uses the invite a friend opportunity, then the other games come out and people see it's just more of the same thing with slightly different graphics, while SoR offers something different and new.

How about this one...if you are staying...say so...if not say so.
I for one, would rather chew glass than give ONE red CENT to Sony/verant/EQ They have a LONG track record, and ANY player can tell you EXACTLY how they treat their player base. We the players/ or former players cough out 14 bucks a month, and roughly 60 bucks a year in expansions, give or take; they the devs give up luke warm zones and time sinc after time sinc, and content that is aimed at guilds of over 200 to 500 members. They give us battles that are either over in ten seconds...or take over AN HOUR on ONE mob, both of which drop either CRAP that is NO drop, OR two items worth the battle...to be split over the WHOLE guild. And all of this took over 6 months to get into this zone to get TO this mob, counting keys and weapons to kill this mob.
EQ gave us the UBBER nerf bat, which it applied QUITE liberally to every class with the regularity of a drunken abusive father. By the end of the nerf fests, MANY classes lay wimpering on the floor, some too beat to be worth playing until UNnerfed many months latter (when the devs did a /who all Mage or other class and found the popluation to be TWO or three/server and wondered WHY?!)
I spent four and a half YEARS as the beaten nerfed red headed step kid...NO THANK YOU. You may HAVE my EQ2 bandwidth, I will wrap it in pretty golden paper and a BIG silver bow for you.
I looked at Wow, a few weeks ago there was a movie posted to the forums, and I downloaded it. TOO cartoony for me, the colors were VERY UNreal and flat. Sure they TRIED to 3d it, but it still looked like a moving version of a Sunday paper. And HOW can you take a dancing orc seriously?
Honestly, I beta test, regularly, so if I wanted to...I could have tested other games. I passed up a WOW beta key, was busy on this game when it came. And I am not ABOUT to sell my soul for an EQ2 code (ledgends server or that Sony passport either of which costs a FORTUNE per month, and then only 3k of those, SHEESH). And I CHOOSE this game over ANYTHING out there.
Not perfect, but then this game and those games are aimed at a slightly different market. I see this game aimed at MATURE ADULTS, not the preteen to 20's, not the ubber leeters and dood speakers. There was an influx about a week back of the leeter doods, a few rather nice. I made one a suit of armor and a sword. And a few days later, after much "this game sux Do0d" they left. I am sure a few in that age range came and stayed...my daughter is a preteen (yes I supervise her, and so far her behavior is excellent). And those that behave maturely are MORE than welcomed to come and stay as long as they wish.
HECK yeah this game will survive. I aint going NO where *stubborn stance*. If you wish to leave, I will hold the door for ya, so it don't hit ya in the fanny. I wish ya well, Bon Voyage. Hope ya find "Mr. Good Game"
***added after post****
Afterthought...Horizons, as financially UNfit as it is, and as POORLY coded (my opinion is that a team of high school programers could debug it, if the code was open) and hated by MANY former players...it still has a fan base, small as it might be. I hubby is a guildleader of a role play only, dragon only guild, and oddly enough, their membership is growing in pure numbers. One could say thriving in fact.
That doesn't mean I am going back, even if promised ALL my old characters AND a free YEAR of play. BUT others find enjoyment...so be it.

EQ2 and WoW are simply overhyped. Lots of people who think they're going to love it because of successful marketing, aren't.
I rather expect a post-EQ2 and WoW bounce to Ryzom a month or few afterwards when people start dropping those games. By then maybe we'll actually have patch 2?
Anyways the death cry of every game happens with new games coming out. It rarely does, and the games that do die are seen for massive and colossal number of problems.
