I'm going to ask right off the bat if fixing amps came with the patch. If it isn't I'm going to craft heavy armor, axes, and shields. Maybe guns are worth crafting now?
I'm fine in forage, and fighting.
Magic, I actually don't like acid to much, most of my solo time I spend harvesting. When I group it's largely kipee or disabling spells like stun or blind.
Stats Stats Stats! I think I'm going to max out all my stats first, then think very carefully about what my character is going to be doing. This'll take some math since you can train in multiple areas. Except Sap, I think that's magic only. So planning out what level I'm at and what I want to get are going to take a lot longer than figuring out what I want to shed
I'm glad they're doing this. right now I'm at 20 gun, 30 ammo, 48 weapons, 40ish armor. That's just way to much to practice until I can start pulling some serious money in. just gonna max one thing and then make a secondary plan.
So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Re: So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Are you sure that we'll be able to use SP that we spent in one field to buy skills in another? For example, what if I want to totally drop all harvesting skills I've bought. Besides the 50 SP I used to buy the harvesting start in Fighting, won't I still have to use the refunded harvesting SP in harvest skills?
Or another example is: can I use the SP I spent on resource tracking after refund to buy armor crafting level 3? Assuming the SP costs are the same of course.

Re: So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Going to drop all the extra wasted craft skills and specialize in just one area. When I started I had taken every single crafting to try them out. Now I know what I want I can probably get about 100 sp back.
Re: So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Dumping all points wasted in ranged crafting. I too will dump all my craft points into a single craft. It will be difficult enough mastering one end-game much less all of them. As for everything else I am only buying the things I know I will absolutely need and sit on the SPs for a while. If I spend them all I just know I will screw myself up.

Dropping my Rot Spells. Who in god's name wants to attack plants....

Re: So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Plants are good xp and drop some interesting things. The problem is that attacking a plant with a spell is suicidal. The best thing to do is to melee them.
Re: So what skills will YOU be dropping after the respec?
Add to that that all the plants (ok, I have only seen shooki yet) take full damage from Ice, the Rot branch baffles me.
I imagine there will be plants that are only vuln to rot, and in a group situation, you could contribute as a mage with Rot, but other than that...
As to the initial question, I hope to rebuild me char almost exactly as it currently stands. I will lose all but 1 Mat Spec (just to make sure they never become useful again). Ill drop all ranged crafting (until it to becomes worth the investment). And I will probably have to choose between swords and axes. I currently can make 1 and 2 hand versions of both axes and swords. Its nice from a visual variety standpoint (and craft mission standpoint as well), but other than that, these weapons are IDENTICAL.
