lol. Fanbois.
IGN offers the best reviews out there. I agree with the guy 100%. 6.9 for gameplay is just about right.
So, does this make you an IGN fanboi?

You have to admit though, fanboyism aside, that review WAS half-arsed

Well either way is not a good review for Ryzom. And people undecided will look for reviews to make a decision on buying or not the game. One thing he mentions is that NA server is empty and is true.

Hehe, that's probably why they found Horizons such a good game.

Emptiness would be easy to solve, but it would require Nevrax overcoming their segregation hitch. Heck, they even seperate the forums community up into tiny bits.

How about inviting our (English speaking) European brothers (and sisters) over to join us on one server. The more the better! =D
(EVE Online did it. It can be done, but the server will have to be localized in a central area)

SoR aside, IGN has so many corporate <edit> in their mouth they couldn't put out a decent review if they wanted to.

The guy didnt even get the techincal details down right.. Complaining about long load time and saying that it shouldnt be so long because he has a fast internet connection.. if you play on a 486 i dont care if you got a T3 line in your house, you are going to load slow.. I see the different between my computer and the other one in the room in load time, because one is not as 'good' as the other altho they are both on the same internet connection...
And he said he had never played a game with this long a load time before.. he must have been on some 2d game like EQ, UO,DAOC.. tell that guy to try SWG or another equally intentensive and large game and then he will see load time...
Technical details aside.. "Ryzom is set in the far future"... Does the guy actually think that is earth he is walking around on? Its another planet, it could have existed millions of years before earth or after earth or... How exactly does he say its far future??
He also goes on to state that with 100 magic and 100 fight points that you can buy 200 points worth of crafting skills...
He goes on to tell about all the parts of the game he didnt understand, how hp regens, how dodge works, how armor stats effect you, why certain mobs will dodge u more than others.. No this game isnt for 5 year olds, it is more complex and requires more thoughts and everything is not ABC about it easily laid out...
Cant they get someone who actually plays the game beyond newbie island for more than 1 day to review a game? Someone who actually understands the game and doesnt misrepresent things, such as missions do nothing for you (ie they give you FAME you idjit!)..
Oh well

Yeah, it didn't sound as if he really took the time to look some things up.
"Hi, Nevrax called IGN up and invited us to review Ryzom. IGN said yes, but stuck ME with the job. Well I spent about 30 minutes in game without bothering to read the manual and here's what I noticed. Where's my paycheck?"
