You are bored? Ah yeah, you are a tank ....

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

and that must not be.

Dunno, I don't use increased damage... I play with high speed daggers, aim head, accurate attack, avoid armor etc resulting in a lot of attacks, with a higher ratio of critical hits in comparison to slower weapons, hitting the head which in turn results in a stun, and no reduction in damage from armors; costy on stamina being the downside.... but then I'm not forced to constantly use the styles; the hit rate makes up for it.

Why would I want increased damage? I do fine without it. I play differently than 'most tanks'. There are enough options around here to not look at SWG or DAOC.

It's just a matter of min-maxers plaguing the game with the 'most efficient' way to get the max xp for the least time spent; they'd rather all run with the most damaging weapon and the highest increased damage... than try something different that might be more interesting and which would make some variety in the game.

My fighting style may be slower than 2h increased damage fighters... but I like my style, and I enjoy fighting monsters for a bit, watching my back for adds... and in groups I need Stamina heals instead of Life heals most of the time; bringing variety to the healer classes too :D

Please feel free to summarise any of my other posts :P

There are a number of placed where "don't be so stupid", "grow up" or "NO! your wrong!" would be a valid response...... This however is not one of them.

Its a good point - each tree has a repeatitive action with in it.

Harvest = prospect + extraction
Magic = the blind spell or heal, etc
Fight = attack and opening
craft = basically craft :P

But this is a roleplaying adventure, to me the GAME is not about the moves its about the world.

I use a car driving example.

I want to travel from place A to place B..... thats the reason
I drive a car, this involves very basic repeative actions.

I don't scream at the car maker to give me a second steering wheel or extra pedals that I will never use because the one there do the job.

I thing that has kept me hooked on this game is that the interface maybe basic, but the world is great and full of interest.

*** Hivewasp summary ***

- yes more stuff would be nice, but its not vital
- adding more stuff is not going to make you personally any happier (everything will bore you eventually)
- I like the game and too me thats just fine
- I can't change your mind and you won't change mine (boredom is self inflicted)

*** end Hivewasp summary ***

I think that seeing leveling as a main goal of your play, instead of something like a side-effect or side-goal, then you're just racing towards "climax". Which undoubtedly will be an anti-climax, because once you've reached that "high" you are going to realize that that's it, one high and nothing beyond.

When I say main goal instead of sub-goal/side-goal or side-effect, I'm talking about role playing. When I was on beginnersland in the last open beta, I eventually needed good heavy armor for my melee. I noticed that there was a crafter who could make the best heavy amor available in beginnersland (I still remember you Harkon ;) )

All I was doing was gathering those Goari shells, because the Kipee shells didn't have the best stats hehe. After slaying one Goari after another, trying to get all those shells for that new shiny armour, I noticed that every once in a while some strange shiny particle effect fell over me, ah, indeed, apparantly I leveled. Whatever...that was a side effect ;) I was doing somethnig else.
I was there, doing my thing, playing my role in the community and supporting that same community. There are no guilds on beginnersland, just players that want to reach mainland, another one of those nice goals, and we can all help eachother.

Ask not what your MMORPG can do for you, but what you can do for (fellow)MMORPG(ers)

And as a side note: I used to play C64 all the way back in those days, living at home with my parents and actually replacing my RL with computergames. Believe me, spending too much time in 'other worlds' will eventually effect your RL personality in such a manner, that you'll be asking yourself "What will ever satisfy me?" (RL will, computergames won't) I too have limited time per week to spend on this game, and if I can spend it, I will. But I have a dayjob aswell for the moment, and it's the exclusiveness of not being there all the time that gives Ryzom that special thing for me :D
Eeeks, today I should be working from my home, and I'm reading forum! Should get back to work ;)

And my comments was by no means a rejection of that....

I prefer to use a 1000 words when two four letter words would do the job perfectly!

I would feel honoured ... if you followed my post around and summarising them.

What a team we would be, oh the joy of it.

I think you will find that poking yourself in the your eye with a large stick will cause distress to yourself and others around you. This may possible lead to blindness. It up to you but if you stop the pain goes away and you will feel better.

Stop poking you eye out, its stupid!

It would bring great cheer to the toture that is know as work.

Work defined as the boring repeative task that is required to be done to allow the appreciation of other things that are more enjoyable.

I work to live, I don't live to work.

hummm thats almost relevant to the topic.

Ive done power leveling myself in other games when they are first released and well they get boring real fast.. there is'nt much to do and as someone basicly put hes burnt himself out... now hes bored and will most likely end his subs for a couple of months until there is something else to do.

You have burned yourself out when you reached lvl 250 in at least 15 subtrees. Of those at least 5 have to be crafting and 1 should be master earring crafting. Not before that =P
