This forum, including the user control panel, is a third party package called vBulletin, not developed by the Ryzom team. (Look way down there at the bottom of this page for more info.)

Implementing a new code to put in your sig or message is one thing, altering the control panel to add a new feature is another. It may be possible, I dunno, but I'm sure it would be one of those things Jayce would complain about taking away from game development time.

The banner code you put in just ends up as an image URL which points to a dynamically generated image which IS developed by the Ryzom team, as part of the API effort.

mashed, you have also to consider that the banner is not meant to be used only in the official forum but in other forums as well, so it must be an independant url, usable everywhere, that's easy to copy and paste.
