philu wrote:It's missions pretty much all the way but you have to choose the right ones. The best ones for raising fame are the "kill x [insert tribe name e.g. Dunestalkers]". You might need help with one or 2 of them but (as you already noticed) we're a helpful bunch. ;)

At lower level fame, each mission will raise you 1 point of fame. As you get closer to 100 you'll need to do them more. Yes it IS a grind fest but I guess it depends how famous you want to be. :D
Well, as its in no way mandatory to have 100% fame in any faction, I for myself do some missions ever so often when I feel like it and since release I´m now at 97% Fame. Frankly I´ve already asked myself: "What am I gonna do if its 100%?"

Apart from having enough fame to port. Nobody and nothing forces anybody to rush things. Everything above minimum teleport value, is just so you have it.
At least that should be the rule.
If anyone does force you, he´s on the wrong track in my humble opinion.

P.S.: Oh, and sorry for the "windows/fonts" thing. I misunderstood.

Quite a lot of players do have Silan alts and check back there on occasion. I can name two or three players who play solely on Silan, though they do have ML alts. They've even got a guild.

Just look for the guy who's always asking if anyone needs the Kirosta. He lives there ;)

:) Yay, good read, and many good points.

In most cases, I think your suggestions are valid, and perhaps in some of the few where I disagree I think that with time and more experience, you'll reach an "aha moment" and better understand the why.

I've tried any number of other MMOs, and I always end up back home on Atys, so my prejudices are pretty well set and I won't belabor comparisons. Suffice to say that the story, the complexity and the community are what I like.

When I introduce people to the game, I always start with a warning that Ryzom is not a game that you will fully understand the first day, week, or month (or year?). I recommend taking it easy, finding things that you enjoy, and absorbing it as you go. It seems that people with that approach enjoy it more, and stay longer, than others. Still, that's not what everyone wants from a game, and there's nothing wrong with that.

With that said, I think you've made a very valuable contribution, and I hope that over time some of your suggestions will be realized.

EDIT: The second piece of advice I give new players is to do things the way that is most fun for you, without regard for how others do things, and certainly without regard for what is the fastest or most efficient way to advance, unless that is what is particularly fun for you. TMTOWTDI and YMMV fully apply.
