Where are these new players? I created a new account to see the state of the game and it is dead. The newbie areas are completely bereft of players. I was contemplating upgrading an account I had previously but after seeing the state of the game I doubt I'll bother.
Runebearer I think you're right to wonder. You can tell by the traffic on these forums that Ryzom is pretty dead too. There's no sense of a game being given a new lease of life. It's a shame because it's a decent game. But I can play Fallout 3 if I want to a good SP experience.
Sherk and Garaque said it well. This game is NOT for the people who want to be led around by the nose and have things handed to them like a kid in a candy store (well we do tend to hand out items such as armor, weapons, experience catalyzers, etc.) but that is because we want people to have fun, not get frustrated, while they learn the system.
The craft system can be frustrating becuase you need to actually craft items in quantity (OMG) to be able to get it right, and different materials give you a different end result, so new items are just an experiment away. Ryzom has a VERY dedicated player base *points to Sherk, grinning*, so if you have constructive criticism, fine, but don't bad mouth a game you barely tried, if you tried it at all.
Many "old" players have low level skills, or even alts to help new arrivals level their own skills. As stated by others, ask for help in Uni. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
