Is it just me or "
Recently, have you seen an increase or decrease of new players ?" Is not a kind of question you could answer with a yes or no

Some have vanished, others are returning, but it is true that Atys appears to be more silent lately. Don't forget that it's the dreaded "End of semester exam period" with its load of RL paperwork that is preventing a few to log as much as they'd want, if at all. *Thinks about Nightblade, buried under a gigantic mountain of schoolwork*
I sure hope that, with the Event Team "Meet and greet", the holiday vacations and the events themselves, we should see a few more homins join in the fun before billing resumes.

I certainly am. If they had left the "month free trial for all" until they were ACTUALLY ready to open for business in one month, it would have had a lot greater and long term impact I feel. Most worryingly, we are still not seeing any kind of marketing or advertising, without which Ryzom will surely fail once again, no matter how many road-maps they draw or events they plan.

SW opened up a new official website for NeL, and a lot of the changes done to OpenNeL have already been added into official NeL. Though most likely for obvious legal reasons related to what they do with official NeL, changes that came from developers they can't get into contact with, cannot be merged into official NeL.

In addition, *cough cough hint hint*, SoE are currently working their butts off to alienate EQ2 players, this would be a good time for more marketing.

They will annoy only those particular people that would've been annoyed anyways. Being annoyed is their normal state of existence.
The game was dead and someone picks it up and lets it run for free until they manage to sort their problems out.....oh thats sooo annoying indeed, wheres my pills.
The game was bankrupt (second time) and Spiderweb paid an important sum of money for it, risky business and a very difficult task ahead of them, raging economic crisis didnt exactly help either. Yet they had the courtesy to keep the game up for free until they are ready. When and if they will be ready is their problem.
Far as players are concerned, the game was already dead, so they lost nothing, they can enjoy the free period, or wait to see what happens.
Spiderweb is under no obligation towards anyone before the billing is up.
They will market when they are ready, they will open the billing when they are ready and they will answer questions when and if they so please, its their good right and its common sense.
In the meantime if you have talents to spare, you can lend a hand by volunteering, if you dont, then please have the decency of not spamming the forums with negativity, demands and whining, especially since you are saying the same thing over and over and over again.
Banging your fists on the table demanding answers and action is not going to help Spiderweb sort their problems out.
If you cant help, at least dont make it harder.

Yeah, you're right. Criticism of SW must = whining.

Sorry for my grumpy rant ajsuk, it was not addressed to you except for the first couple lines. You are one of those who help the game and the community.
Criticism of SW is not whining, but i feel it is a bit unfair. They spent money for the game so they dont want it to fail. Im sure they know very well the game cannot succeed without marketing, without new content and good communication. If they didnt show any of the above so far, means they are not ready yet, for whatever reasons. It doesnt mean they dont care, or have no clue how to do things.
