I remember Shadowbane doing the same thing, but only after a week or more of players being lucky if they could even log in let alone move in a populated area. There it was a needed compensation.
Here it is a generous gift.

a week free = around 3.80USD x # of accounts = a lot.
so it was REALLY nice of them.

Very generous, but I also agree with one of the above posters, totally unnecessary. Do not feel the need to apologize for the growing pains with the rollout, this has been one of the better ones.
Just keep up the great work and all will sort itself out.

And, I'll echo what many have already said... It certainly wasn't a necessary gesture - definitely not expected. I think it's safe to say that many, many of us are behind you all in helping to get Saga of Ryzom through its "growing pains". That certainly includes being patient, in some cases, while the bugs and other issues are sorted out. So.. to that, I say "Not a problem"
