Please rename the title of this thread.
The title implies discussion about the game staying free but the discussion revolves around crafting. it went out of its subject and will lead readers into confusion.

Nope, the title is correct since the main idea is to remain free by changing the way to get money. So changing the craft system (or in fact the crafter production) is one way.

The thing about Ryzom being PayToPlay after a point means those not willing to contribute to the game, both physically through playing and metaphorically through their gained knowledge and presence, are filtered out.
And those who are of the sort who just appear to Taste the game then Annoy people are filtered out either quickly or they just bore themselves stupid. They can't leave Silan, they have a level cap. If they're not willing to become part of the community or a loner, they give up and play another game, preserving at least the image of Ryzom being a mature game (most of the time
) with a helpful playerbase.
On the subject of crafting etc changes? Yeah, I'm not gonna go there... To me Ryzom is a grind with a bit of variety - not many other games I've played in my time can say that.

Thank you for your explanation. I liked it. I may have mis-understood (was reading kind of fast since I was at the office back then).

Pro this point. But I never ask for PayToPlay that already exists, my purpose would be to have a PayToExp or PayToFreak. I'd like a game where you pay to level and you could RP freely to make the world live.

Exactly what I said, make the one who only play to kill everything pay, they don't offer anything. But finding a way to let RPing people and experienced people stay in the game, that should be the purpose of this thread. I played on the french server a long time ago and most of the people I knew are gone. Worse, most of them won't come back because they are bored. Organising a world with non paying people creating RP events is the key for me.
Nowaday, when I look to RP events (which interest people at least to stop them from mining or killing mobs) they resume to : attack AP. And you ?

Sure, it's a real interest in the game. But the counter part of this way of crafting is that only crafting people are rich and all are gathering ressources from mining.
